This morning I caught the first few minutes of the Travolta movie "Swordfish". Would anybody happen to know what cutter and lighter is used in the opening scene? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBUND8Gm9G0&feature=related"]YouTube- Swordfish 2001 Part 1[/ame] It happens close to 90 seconds. The only thing I could gather from it is it's a V cutter.

Thanks,

Alex

I've used a cutter like this. Unfortunately with the move to larger ring gauge cigars, you've limited the cutter to only sub-48 ring gauge cigars. Anyhow, the cutter you seek is made by Donatus in Solingen, Germany (although there might be other manufacturers). The model in Swordfish is more than likely the "pocket" v-cut cutter. They make a table top version which is essentially a larger version. Good luck trying to find it in the US...but I've seen the pocket version run anywhere from $40 to $195.

Search "German cigar cutter" on fleabay and you will find what you seek.

I just did what bigmanfromou said and you can find a few nice ones... not my cup of tea as I wouldn't want a V-cutter, but they look pretty sharp.

Thank you very much everybody! And yes, I am starting to notice things such as nice sticks, fine lighters, and fancy cutters in more and more places :bottle:

Also a very good movie if any of you are curious

Could be a solinger (solingen?) cutter... german style cutter anyways.

The lighter could be any one of many... maybe a colibri? They make lighters that look like anything...

It´s Solingen. That´s the name of the town where they are made.
Donatus is one of the manufacturers that still makes this style of cutter.
Kerbschnitt is the german word for v-cut. Maybe that helps when looking for cutters on Ebay...
