Thursday night I had the opportunity to smoke a few cigars. One of them was a Henry Clay that I was gifted by a fellow BOTL (thanks Marty :thumbsup
. I didn't know what to thing about this cigar when I first got it, but I've read some good reviews on it. This cigar comes in two sizes, a 5.5 x 42 and a 5.6 x 46. The one I smoked was the later I believe. The retail on this cigar is $3-4. The feel of the cigar had some give, not spongy like it was under filled though. The appearance was a medium brown, some small veins, and there was a pleasant aged tobacco scent to it. I clipped the cap and found the draw to be a little too tight so I clipped a little more and it was perfect. There was a slight nutty taste on the pre-light. The first few puffs were dominated by a peppery, toast combination. The pepper mellowed out during the first third, but remained through most of the cigar. In the second third I started to get some hints of chocolate off and on in addition to a buttery toast flavor. The flavors remained consistent to the very end. Overall a very pleasant smoke, with lots of smoke output. For the price it will definitely find a permanent place in my humi.
