LE El Triunfador

I heard a rumor that there is going to be an LE Especiales sized El Triunfador with a broadleaf maduro wrapper released shortly. Rumored to come in a box of 25 for around $200. Sounds interesting and tasty to me.

Well, the original El Truinfador Lancero Limited is Broadleaf maduro. They come in boxes of 25. Not sure if that's what you're talking about, but those are a regular release cigar and not an LE. But they ARE tasty

These are not supposed to be a lancero. 6x38 is what I heard. The OR El T's are tasty!

I should have clarified. The OR El Triunfador is a 7 1/2" by 38. 6x38 would be a Panatela I guess? It's the same size as a Tatuaje Havana VI Victorias.

That size is traditionally a Laguito #2.

Smoked some today, and they are pretty damn good! A little more spice added in to the original ET profile.

They are a limited release corona especiale size made for my friends shop in Seattle.

They were released today.

The shop is JnJ cigars, in SODO.

Pepin usually calls the 6x38 a "corona especial," after the Cohiba of said name I assume. The Tatuaje Victorias and DPG Black 1977 are two examples, and two amazingly wonderful cigars!

I love this size, but since I can already get this in a lancero (occasionally cheaper), that makes the decision tougher.

And opus calls it a "Petite Lancero" (6 1/4x39)...great size (one of my faves, actually) and if Pete changed the blend a bit, I am down for a box...

Any news on that Pete (if you ever read this)? Is it a slightly newer blend, or just fresher then the lanceros?

The shop owner says they taste like the Petit Cazadores Reserva, but the original plan back in the summer was that they were supposed to be a petit lancero version of the El T. So I'm not positive if any changes to the blend were made but I'm trying to confirm...

As far as the SODO goes, I am a big fan of the Original Blend El T so at first I was thinking I "had to have" this in a Petite Lancero. The more I thought about it the less I wanted it, sounds like it is the same price as the regular Lanceros if it is $200 a box, same ring gauge, then if it is the same blend.... what's the point? I can just as easily walk in to a local B&M and purchase a Lancero and hack off an inch and a half and pretend it's a SODO without having to call that one shop I'd likely never purchase from again for this cigar. To take it a step further I could get one of those stencils from the hardware store and spray paint SODO on the side of one of my El T boxes and I am all set :hysterica

I agree with you totally, which is why I think it is a different blend...I am not sure what the point is to have the exact same blend only one inch shorter...

Also, I am pretty sure that ALL of the single store releases have been different blends, so I am not sure why this would be different...
