  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

What would you do...

Its "the world's most expensive cigar". Apparently they infuse it with some several thousand dollar bottle of cognac. Bunch of bologna if you ask me. Just another gimmick. Gurkha just wanted to say they make "the world's most expensive cigar". Now if only they could make a good one...

:barf:

Looking forward to it Eric. :)

Where did you get this cigar from?
I got it from my BIL. He knows Kaz he got 5 from him and gave me one.

we reviewed one of these at smokingstogie. Lets just say that brooks was NOT impressed...

I read the review and that is exactly what I am expecting, unfortunately!

I'd smoke it. I have had a couple of them and found them to be quite nice. I'd let it "breathe" for an hour before smoking it and then the cognac flavor is at it's best. While not a fan of many Gurkha's this is one that I would buy one or two of.

Just my $ .01

Well gentlemen, I will definetly smoke this cigar on New Years Eve after a dinner planned with 13 of my closest friends and relatives. We plan to go back to my BIL's house for more imbibing and smoking. It was suggested that I let this cigar breathe for a little while before smoking, so I will do just that and have camera and pen and paper ready for the review. I do not have high expectations for this, only because it is a Gurhka and I typical don't like them. This does not in any way take away from the other BOTL who do like Gurhka's. Just not in my flavor profile.

Thanks for everyones thoughts on this and have a safe weekend!

Why are you asking other people what YOUR tastebuds might like?? You know what you like better than anyone else knows what you like.

I've tried and liked cigars that recieved bad reviews. I've also not liked cigars that got good reviews.

I tried one Gurka (one kind, Rare Breed, but 3 of them...gotta give it a fair chance) in my life and did not like it. That put me off of Gurkas for awhile. Also many people bad mouthing Gurkas didn't persuade me to try more either. I finally smoked a different Gurka the other day that came in a Nicaraguan sampler pack... and I actually liked it.

Give it a chance and smoke it! You might like it. Develope your palate by finding out what you like and don't like. If you don't like it than you know not to buy it or trade for it in the future. If you like it, then one hour of your life was well spent.

Hope this helps.

Kurt,

This has nothing to do with asking if I would like this flavor wise. This has to do with the fact I was gifted a very expensive cigar and wanted to know the thoughts of my fellow BOTL here. I have had many Gurhkas and I don't typically like them. That's all nothing more nothing less. I have no Gurhkas in my humi's at home and that is for a reason. I have smoked several different lines of Gurhkas and I don't like them.

If you like them, Great I will not think any less or more of them because you like them that is your choice not mine. And I will not think any less of you because you smoke them. Apparently many people do like them as they are a very popular brand.

Just because I'm a noob here doesn't mean I'm a noob to cigars. I believe that one mans dog rockets is another man's treasure. SO don't flame me just for asking a question most of us would never get to ask and if you had read my last post you would have read that I am going to smoke it and put up a review.

Have a nice weekend:agreesmil:agreesmil:agreesmil

I can't imagine a cigar being so good that I would pay $750 for it, but then I don't have that kind of dough. If it was gifted, however, I'd probably end up smoking it or keeping it for a reeeeeeeally long time. Enjoy!

The problem with Gurkha is they sold out big time, and they put too much in to their packaging which drives the price up too. The last good Gurkha that I have had was from a small independently owned B&M. The one's that CI has for instance are made for them in large quantities. I don't care for Gurkhas generally. Although I have been considering trying one from a smaller B&M lately they have a smaller and completely different selection than CI.

Light it with an open mind and enjoy. I'm looking forward to the review.

Don't think a flaming was intended. Just my 2 cents.
Torin,

That was how I read it. It sounded to me that Kurt was talking down to me like I have no clue! The thread was posted in fun as very few BOTL would ever get the chance to smoke a cigar like this. I just wanted to see what the other BOTL thought that's all.

The responses I got ranged from serious to funny and that is all I was after. I am not a Gurhka fan, tried some, didn't like them. That doesn't means I talk down to people who do like them.

Anyway, I hope to see you at the Anarchy release party on the 10th, if not then we need to set up another herf down here so we can meet!

Have a great weekend!

EricF,

Touchy touchy...my goodness. I give two shits what anybody thinks I like or don't like. When it comes down to it, it isn't their lips and mouth smoking and tasting the cigars that I'm smoking. It's my lips and mouth. I try cigars and give my opinion to others about cigars like everybody else. But people like what they like, and dislike what they dislike. That was my point. Don't try and dig deeper into this for an arguement because you won't find anything.

I'm not going to argue back and forth in chat forum about what I meant and what was percieved. You asked a question and I gave my opinion. A flaming was definitely NOT intended. I said what I said without any malice intended.

Since the cigar was free/gifted, that is even more of a reason to give it a try. I see you came to that conclusion also. Enjoy it for New Years, best of luck in the New Year! And I'm sure the brothers all look forward to your review.

It was how I read your post that's all. I agree we shouldn't go back and forth in the forum so lets just shake hands and go smoke a cigar.

We both have our own opinions and that is just fine with me. Enjoy your weekend and I hope you have some great smokes lined up to enjoy!:smokingco
