  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Heat went out and temperature is dropping fast!

Heard some squeaking and it stopped. Didn't think anything of it till I start to feel unusually cold. Checked thermostat and temp was at 63 and dropping fast.

There is ambient heat and the furnace is produce heat, just not blowing any hot air.

3:07 am, 19 degrees out and temp is in the high 50s. *F* me!

Waiting on call backs from places.

Any HVAC guys with a suggestion or two would be awesome!

I know, BOTL is where all the HVAC guys hang out at 3:00AM.

Did I mention the cold? :cryloud:

Sucks, bro! That happened to us last year. Find a 24-hour Walmart and get a heater--I'd recommend the oil-filled kind as they're safer and more energy efficient. We bought one they're for a very reasonable price. SAMs or Costco are good too.

Man, this JUST happened to us over the weekend. Like nj said, the oil filled, radiator style heaters work great until you get it fixed. Our problem was the ignition switch. Open up the panel and take a look. Ours has a trouble light that'll indicate what the problem is.

Sorry to hear that jack, as for me when a problem comes up of this sort. I take things apart and put them back together, sometimes I win and sometimes I lose won't hurt to try.
Could be something small? Best of luck Jack!

Holy crap, man ... you REALLY should run to Walmart like now and get a heater or else your pipes might freeze and burst ... that's an expense (and mess) you wouldn't believe.

That's just what was wrong with ours. When the guy came to fix it, it took him all of 10 minutes and he tossed me this little plug-thinger and said "bad switch" and I was like "you've gotta be frickin' kidding me!"

For some reason I felt like an @$$ that we froze our butts off for two days over such a quick fix.

Jack, keep your faucets dripping til you get heat so they don't freeze. Sound like the blower motor on your furnace is gone. Hope your able to get it fixed soon.

One dripping faucet, will take care of most of the house. Pick the one away from water entry. Other than that, the buying a heater suggestions are good.

Excellent. Get some hot coffee/cocoa or something. Gonna take some time to get the house warmed up. I recommend flipping the switch on and then sneaking out to the B&M for a morning stick or two while the house warms back up.

Very important advice here, if it gets near to the freezing mark you man want to consider just turning the water off and emptying the lines until you receive help.

Okay apparently I chimed in a little late, good to see you're getting the help you need

My advice, don't light a BBQ inside to stay warm ;)

Just kidding. Good luck with the situation.
