Great choice for beers, as I love this style of beer! The list keeps getting longer the more I try; here are a few I've had and thought excellent.

Dark Lord by FFF, Bourbon County Stout and it's variations by Goose Island, Double Cream and Expedition stout by Bell's, Black Chocolate Stout by Brooklyn's, Parabola by Firestone Walker, Oatmeal Stout by Samuel Smith's and Dragon's Milk barrel aged as well

Russian Imperial Stout's or R.I.S.'s are probably the top sub-category with-in this style for me, but as soon as it's put in a barrel or specifically a bourbon barrel...then that might become something really special.

btw Brown's Oatmeal Stout is fan freaking tastic. Browns is a local brewery that is just starting to get distributed throughout NY state.

I've never had a chocolate or oatmeal stout, but they sound really interesting to me. I'll have to track a couple down while I'm in the States now :)

I was gifted a Deschutes Abyss the other day; I'd say that's my favorite. Wish I had more.

Been loving fade to black lately.
Nice to hear......I've got a bottle of this in my fridge currently, that I've been waiting to try. Either will do so tonight or tomorrow night!

Lotta love for Founders and Goose Island....amongst some others. Some good shopping lists will be made from the feedback here. :bottle:

I am a big stout drinker! Love the stuff, great thread sir!

Favorite is a local brewery, Four Peaks Oatmeal Stout
For stuff you can by in a store I enjoy Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout and the Rogue Chocolate Stout.

Oh man...I love stouts so it's a long list for me. Probably best to just say stouts in general . That said I second what Frank said. Schlafly does make an excellent coffee stout and their Irish one is good too!

If I have a stout it must be from the tap. Bottles and the can with the bead in it just doesn't hit the spot for me. It's ok, just not as satisfying. Maybe it has someting to do with the fact that I was behind a bar for over ten years but the take home stuff doesn't appeal to me. That said Guiness and Murphy's(don't knock it just cuz it's inexpensive). Sierra makes a really good one but I find they are all good. My two cents.

I gotta comment on this one...cuz I've had plenty of Guiness in my day, and would take ANY of the Stouts mentioned in prior posts to any style of Guiness. I've heard the tap-theory and am sure there is some truth to that, but by the bottle is just fine in my opinion...if....IF you're drinking quality.

And, this is just one dudes opinion here....but US Guiness is the Coors light / Bud light of Stouts. After having a kick-ass, full flavored Stout....well, there's just no goin' back to Guiness for me. Ever. With the disclaimer being UNLESS I ever make it to Ireland.....and can drink it from the tap at a local watering hole :stretchgr.

Make that two dudes opinion. After drinking craft beer for the last couple of years, I can't drink a Guiness anymore. Same goes for any of the big label beers (Bud, Coors, Miller, etc.). It's to bad too, because craft beer is much harder on my wallet.

Make it three. I used to think Guinness was the stout of all stouts...that is until I tried KBS, etc...
