BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Not sure specifically what kind you need since I've never really looked into kitty litter, but a quick Google search turns up quite a few results...

Actually, they don't have to be clear. As long as you get the scentless type, the colored beads are dyed with a vegetable dye so no issues with contamination

I changed over 2 months ago in 15 humidors and this stuff works better than beads...and I used to be a "Beads Disciple"....my humis are all in the 65% area..some 1 or 2 degrees as I want them to be by adding more DW. That jug was only about $18 and I have enough for the rest of my life.
I know the term KITTY LITTER freaks out so many of us...but once you get past the two words it works.
Here's a link for rebates for $25 if you buy it,,,you get a gift card to spend at PetSmart which is great. I think it's for the jug of crystals..not for certain but ask first.

This is exactly what I use too. It keeps a perfect 68% in my 200ct humidor and I never have to worry about it. I highly recommend picking up some "media bags" from petsmart/petco as well for like $.99

I had heard people pick out the colored ones, which I don't think is any big deal.. I think pantyhose / nylons work for "storage", its cheap, it allows air flow all the way around....... and it works.
KLH (kitty litter humidification) after seasoned is the same as any silica bead stuff imo. Work's great btw.

How about some good old fashioned HF beads.
As I understand it, silica beads are silica beads... once they've been "programmed" or seasoned to be 70% or whatever RH you want, that's what they are.
As I remember, the way I did mine was to isolate them with 70% RH using 50/50 mix, and that's what they are... 70%. Take's time to season them - be patient.
I seem to remember reading that you can slowly mist them or spritz them with 50/50 and that will get them to 70% quicker but they usually crack internally from the speed of the water/moisture being added - so they become kind of white'ish, not clear.
I remember a few guys did some test's over at cigarpass forum, preembargo and AllOfUs123 as I remember, one guy used a cigar oasis to season his, and the other literally poured the 50/50 mix onto the beads. One set was prettier than the other, but the end result was the same. I'll see if I can dig up the post.
