I'm looking to add some spicy cigars to my lineup. I realized recently that most of what I smoke is earthy, cocoa/coffee sweet with hints of chocolate or some really beautiful sweetness to it but...

I find that spicy cigars cleanse the palate for me and refresh things.

Kinda the way smoking a cigar clears out the pipe tobacco (English) palate.

Suggestions for stuff I can get in possibly in the $5 price range? Per stick preferably since I'm currently shopping at cigarplace.biz (once I have more cash I'll hit up some of the other retailers - like the ones listed here perhaps!)

The last truly spicy cigar I had was a punch uppercut. And it knocked me on my ass...like I'd just had three or four bourbons...Before that it was a Don Cervantes Presidente. Yeah the one with the really huge ornate band.

Thanks,

Sascha

Curivari Cigars... they are slightly higher than your $5 price requirement, but it's a spice bomb.

Give the DPG JJ Maduro or the Blue a whirl....they should both fit right in with what you're looking for, and in your price range to boot.

The camacho Corojo and Lfd ligero are pretty spicy. Most cigars with sun grown wrappers as well... Such as PDR sun grown and Fuente chateau sun grown.

Man O' War Puro Authentico - It's around $6 but is full of spice.

Benchmade - This one can be had for about $3 and is also full of spice.

El Rico Habano Natural - made by La Gloria and now discounted. This used to be the strong cigar smokers choice

Famous Nic 7000. On sale for ~$45 for a bundle of 20. Made by DPG and pretty close to his Cuban classics.

Sascha, it sounds as if you have been smoking the kind of cigars that I like. So let me turn your question on its head and ask what cigars you and others have been smoking that have those characteristics? To me, most Fuentes usually fit that bill.

Great selection. At your price point I would add Don Lino Africa and Torano Vituoso and Signature.

Had my first the other day, thanks to Herfin' Harg. I'm hooked. Much like the DPG Blue, but more complex.
The Man O' War Puro Authentico is fast becoming a favorite of mine. Cheap, consistent, spicy, and I love the corona size. I've gone through about two boxes and will be ordering more soon.

A lot of the Don Pepin and Nicaraguan cigars mentioned above have a pepper spice to them that everybody is referring to. But they also have the main flavors you are looking to get away from a little, earthy, cocoa/coffee sweet with hints of chocolate IMHO. I think you should go for some Dominican cigars for a different profile and spice.

The LFD Ligero, Double Ligero, and Air Bender are a little over $5 but well worth the price range they are in and have plenty of complex spice. La Aurora 107 has a nice spice that reminds me of the older VSGs and the Robusto and Corona go in the $6 range. You may be able to find them cheaper at some online places.
