Looking good, make sure you have some good quality digital hygrometers for the final rig. I would run two in there.

Did you do anything to remove the plastic smell from inside? Also there's not much to season really... there's no cedar in there to absorb water. Also when you DO season the shelves keep the water in and the heartfelt/KL OUT ... you want the cedar to absorb the water not the silicon.

Lastly how much HF did you order?
Yea I forgot to mentioned i ordered two hydroset II digital and 1 pound of 65% 1 pound 70% Heartfelt beads along with media bags at local pet store, cleaned it last night with baking soda and left it open all night then wiped off the white residue this morning, ill do the newspaper idea until cabinets arrive and take out the KL, thanks for the pointers!

Everything dscl said. Take everything out of there. If you didn't do any plastic scent removal, that's your first step (and second, third and forth as well)
Don't bother putting anything in there at all unless your putting in storage boxes, drawers & trays. When you put those in, then you're ready to season. If not, open her up and just let it continue to air out until you're ready to season/fill.
If the scent doesn't go away by just airing it out here is the method I have taken and recommend to others.

1. Wash the unit out with a combination of warm water and baking soda then rinse.
2. Let air dry
3. Wash the unit out with a combination of warm water and vinegar then rinse
4. Let air dry
5. STUFF the unit with crinkled up newspaper. Close and let sit for a few days

Any plastic smell should be LONG gone
And 6. Put activated carbon from the pet store fish filter aisle in shallow dishes (most surface area) inside and let run for a couple days.
Yeah that's a better method to accomplish my step 5 LOL

I have the same unit.. and mine works fine temp wise.. I have It set to 64.. and my temp stays around there . . what the bonus to this added unit ? can someone please it explain it to me like I am in kindergarten lol
I was looking for ways to use my current thermostat to max it out to 70 degrees since most sites recommend ideal temp for cigars is 66-70, the ect dscl mentioned will let your wineador go past 64 degree which is factory default. Did you plug the drain on yours? And are you using custom cabinets?

Spring strong sweet tall green grass grow...
Sounds like you're well on your way!
Now when the woodwork arrives, put that inside with your containers of distilled water and hygrometer until RH reads 75%+, pull the water dishes and add your moistened bead sacks and wait for RH to stabilize at desired level. If it levels off too low, spritz media w/ DW and wait again. If it levels off too high, crack the door for a while or try adding an empty "room-dry" cedar cigar box to absorb extra moisture.
When it's consistently at your desired level for a couple days, add sticks and enjoy the beauty that is your new wineador!

Doesn't hurt to tape it off. I used electrical tape. Basically it's an extra point where humidity could escape or enter.
Okay, thanks. I have had such a frustrating time with getting my KL dialed in, maybe this will help. Finally got to 65% solid last night. Thought I was done after 4 days, woke up today and it was at 72.

Really close to jumping on anti-KL bandwagon, but I'll try that and hope for the best.

On top of the same page this thread was created under:

Jfires tips and tricks.
Nope! Not in Jfires tips and tricks. Justin (25) was kind enough to take a few hours of his time and make a thread so inclusive that it covered everything needed in order for a new guy to come behind him and make their own. Not sure if that was a jab at me. "Tips and tircks" But a few of us have spent hrs writing or logging videos to help guys just like yourself. Check out his thread. It literally is so detailed there's not one question left to answer about making your own wine coolers.
Best regards.

I have great respect for your videos, I could list 5 things easily that they taught me.

I would assume if someone is posting storage related issues in the storage section, they've more than likely seen the sticky.

I've read a novels worth of wineador posts here this past week. Maybe Im retarded but I still am running into questions.

It seems to me when it comes to the storage section, how many different things can you cover?

One down side to this wineador if you lose power it will reset the temp down to 54, I'd have to get some sort of battery to avoid this which could be annoying.

Happy new year!!

I got the hygrometers (hygroset II) and after 24 hours in a ziplog with salt/water cap they won't move from 66, I though these come already calibrated... has anyone delt with hygroset before?

I have 2 Xikar hygro's that come calibrated.

Neither one of them were calibrated. So I don't think that claim holds much weight.

Weird that you have 2 on same number though. I've never done salt test, just boveda calibration kit, but if you're sure you got the right amount of salt and water, pay no attention to the claim they come calibrated.
