  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    For me, yes! YMMV though. I find its easier to keep an eye on them in regards to how much water they're getting. Too much, and they quickly 'damp off', and go mouldy. Also find much better germination rates with the constant temperature a heated propogator gives.

    Peat discs and heated propogators! Ideal germination temps are between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius (78 to 82 Fahrenheit). A nice constant temp will help germinate those super hots. I've found also that super hot chillies can take up to three weeks to germinate, so be patient!

    Anything by Thornbridge or Brewdog are my suggestions. Thornbridge Jaipur and Halcyon, and Brewdogs Dead Pony Club and Punk IPA are the standouts

    For my plants, I use a growing medium that has worked really well for me: • 25L potting Mix • 10L Coir Peat • 10L Perlite • 2L Dynamic Lifter Sorry all the amounts are metric. Dynamic Lifter is an organic pelletised fertilizer. I try to keep things organic as much as possible.

    Having a go at a Belgian Wit this weekend. Adding a decent whack of unmalted (raw) wheat into this one. Having an internal debate whether or not to add orange peel to the last ten minutes of the boil. Has anyone done this? Going to be about 20L (5 gal).
