• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Yes, I think it does. I'm sorry I didn't include it before. Mata Fina is from WLT Everything else I think is from LO.

Tonight's trial blend is only 5 days old. The leaves were as follows : .5 Piloto Cubano seco 1 Mata Fina .5 Dominican ligero .5 Dominican binder (which is Piloto cubano ) Ecuador Shade Seco for wrapper. The first couple drags were very sweet, maybe because I had already sipped my 4 Roses Small...

    Pics of Your Sticks

Here's one that's aged an entire 5 days! The first few hits were sweet then came the "bitter-you better slow down" taste. Anyway, my last rolling session yielded so many combos I wanted to check them out early to see which to reproduce. PS: I used newspaper strip for a mold as it adapts to...

So this isn't a sale or anything but some might find it a deal... On LO, the Dominican binder is piloto cubano, 15in x 6in and approximately 100 leaves per pound, all for $19.99. Moving down to filler leaves. The Dominican piloto cubano seco is 13 in x 5in, approximatly 80 leaves per pound and...

Tonight's smoke is one rolled in February. Seems to be a one off as its all alone. Maybe I already burned the others from February but I don't recall. .5 Dom Ligero 2 Nic Viso 1 Nic Seco Dom binder Ec. Ligero wrapper. I didn't find any distinct flavors with this. About half way through I picked...

So this Honduran filler doesn't say "seco" but it's pretty big leaf. Would you gents consider it seco in your blends?

You don't know what you don't know! Thanks for sharing your recipe though, that Espresso Bean was a great little smoke.

Sounds good B, I'll make some with more MF, skipping the BV. I don't have Columbia seco so that one's out. I agree that simpler is better sometimes. My first success was 1.5 Nicaraguan Seco: 1.5 Nicaraguan Ligero. Made that based on @blisscigarco formulas for blending/weighting.

If I had a recipe for Espresso Bean, I'd be trying to make those (@Hopduro ) but since I don't, I'm going for this blend: Piloto Cubano Seco Brazilian Viso Mata Fina Dominican Ligero They'll be bound with Dominican binder, some wrapped in ECSS, some PA Oscuro. I'm also working in some...

Not that I'm aware of! It just takes me too long to figure out what I like. By the time I figured out a blend I liked last time, when I ordered more, the ligero looked totally different. Anyway, on to the next blend!

    Adventures in home rolling

So after 15 months in the humidor, the broadleaf bound and wrapped stogies burn, even if a bit wonky still. Problem today is that an inch into it, my kids now want dinner! First world problems, I tell you what. I'm glad that's all I can complain about today!

So a Brother was kind enough to spilt some of his Honduran filler out for me. The best part of this leaf so far is the travel companions it brings along! I must admit there was another stick too but it didn't last until picture day! Thank you @Hopduro

    First one

Columbia leaf, sounds like it would be right up @Hopduro alley... Glad you enjoyed it, welcome to BOTL!

Changing toothpaste made a huge difference in cigar flavor.

Very true, but will all the great smokes be even better after going SLS free? Is SLS the reason orange juice is nasty after brushing your teeth? This might be worth trying out to see what else may improve beyond the cigars in our daily consumption...

    What are you reading

Turn the Ship Around, a decent read for people in supervisory roles looking to move decision making closer to the people doing the actual work. It goes well with an AF Queen B.
