• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Me too the profile was really nice. I bought a 5er so I have a few more to see if it was just a dud. As it stands its the only cigar Ive had to toss this year

So I dug out my Nic habano viso. Going to roll some of the slightly tweaked Eastern Standard blend this weekend. It'll look like this... 2 corojo seco 1 Nic Habano viso 1 Criollo ligero Dom binder PA broadleaf oscuro wrapper

Yea the guys over there aren't too fond of using pectin. While that blend is bound to be different since you'd be using different primings I imagine its still worth rolling and probably has a lot of similarities. Plus it works with the leaf you have already. Though don't worry soon your going to...

Guessing that was one of Gdaddy's posts he hates pectin lol. The fillers you've been using so far are Dominican. FWIW all my blends using strictly Nicaraguan Habano were really woody and earthy. Nothing very good IMO. However it works well with other leaf. According to Caldwell this is the...

Screw you guys, I'm going home...

I love Small batch and think they're awesome but don't forget about Smoke Inn. They have about 10 stores in FL and also do online orders through their site. Being a FL resident they're one of my go to vendors. Welcome to BOTL!

El Oso Papa (something isn't the same)

It's normal. Some companies are more anal about it than others while some just dye all their wrappers the same color. Some leaves turn out darker than others. Nothing to worry about.

No one really has a set time for how long they leave it in the mold. Some leave them there for 15 minutes and some do it overnight. I usually do 30 mins, rotate, then leave until whenever I'm ready to wrap. With a mold you have to rotate the sticks to get rid of the press marks.

PVC molds work well from what I've heard just remember they won't absorb moisture or breathe like a wooden mold.

I'd go with something like 7 x 45 so you have the choice for longer vitolas. You can always use a bigger mold for a shorter cigar but not the other way around.

I usually only remove them from the ligero since its so thick but I know people do it both ways. I think it helps make the leaf easier to tube leaving it in.
