Hickory works great as well as any fruitwood. I have some apple wood that gives a light smoky flavor. I also like to use sassafras wood, VERY tasty. Mesquite is too strong for my liking, but if you like it that's all that matters!

Just an FYI, there are a number of overseas vendors that freeze every box they receive before putting the them in their own warehouses. I have tried cigars from different boxes with the same box code where one was frozen and the other was not and I could not tell any difference. I may not have...
