I'm a shure fan too & the custom in-ear pieces cannot be beat - the isolation is the single best thing you can do for audio clarity (not to mention comfort). The Etymotic has a good rep - you can get them on Amazon for <$70.

I try to keep Thia chili peppers around - they act as a great 'heating-agent' because they have, kind of a 'clean' heat - I put them in BBQ, spaghetti sauce, stir fry, etc... I suppose that isn't much of a 'secret ingredient', but I like it spicey!!!

Get a cheap pipe (<$10) & good tobacco ($10). That way your not out much if you don't like it. I had a pipe of 4 year old Escudo last night - hit the spot! It does take a bit of technique & there is a bit of a learning curve - but now, I don't even think about it at all - I really enjoy...

Sad about that kid - I have a friend near there who told me that everyone knows that it's 'big-shark' area, but people still take their chances (the odds are slim)... Everyone (who surfs regularly) seems to have a story of seeing a large shadow under them, etc... I'm terrified of those things...
