Went back to the store to stock up on a few more 6 packs....as this has overtaken the Celebration IMO...which had been a longstanding Xmas favorite. The only "sucks" part of this ale, is that this particular beer won't be back next year!

I can only vouch for the quality of the 2010, and I too have heard about the bad batch of 09 (although it wasn't all of it). Haven't seen nor tried anything 09 or older, but I was very pleased w/ how the 2010 turned out a year later. There's not hardly any vertical tasting reviews when I looked...

Yup....I can only imagine the atmosphere on campus today. I thank Paul for what he did for us (not so much the 9-40 though), and respect that he is a Coug, but I want to win gawdammit....an apparently, so does Bill Moos!

Well if it's like it was last year, I doubt you'll be disappointed then Larry. I remember thinking to myself it was damn near milkshake consistency..lol....but that may be a mild exaggeration as a result of hops, water & yeast occupying many of my brain cells. :bottle:

As a self-proclaimed lover of Hops (but not JUST hops) I can relate to them not being seen as "true" Christmas ales....although that doesn't change my enjoyment of them. I've had several on this list (11, 10, 9, 6, 5, and 2)...and agree that the Rogue is by far the least enjoyable of the bunch...

Can't recall the story off the top of my head, but they didn't have the ingredients for whatever reason to make the regular Brown Shugga Holiday release this year...so the "sucks" holiday ale was created. I must say.....i'm very happy it was. Think Little Sumpin' Sumpin' meets Hop...

I've got no idea about east coast brews, but I've had a BOTL here send me a 4 pack of the corsendonk christmas ale, and I thought that stuff was fantastic. But if it's one you've had a keg of in seasons, I can understand wanting to get something else.

Deschutes Jubel Ale. Been a while since ive had this, skipped it last year as I recall...and almost bought a case at Costco over the weekend. Thought I'd better try a 6'er first, and drinking the 1st from the 6 pack tonight. More malt than hop, but with a very nice balance and very drinkable...

Thought this was an applicable bump....if only because the 2011 LEs are hitting shelves now, and curiuos if they're smoking any differently. I've watched/read a review or two of the Ramon Allones Extra, and it didn't sound like it was worth pursuing IMO. Same dark wrapper, same bold...

Haven't bought a bottle of liqour in a while...and certainly have never driven over 25+ miles to a store to get one.....but they were able to hook me up with their last bottle of the Stagg, so you're damn right I went ;). I blame you guys for posting about it...lol. The Balvenie happened...

The cask strength IMO is no where near a beginner Scotch. That stuff has some serious punch to it... Itd be the equivalent of handing a new cigar smoker a LP Dirty Rat. It took me quite a while to get through my bottle cuz it's definitely a sipper. Like cigars though, we'll all find different...
