• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Myth Busters – Relative Humidity

First Post edited with the first batch of results, they are drying out a bit. Gotham Cigar Museum keeps theirs at 60RH and 60 degrees. Europe tends to agree on lower than 65RH as well and I know some collectors that go as low as 50RH for the ones they don't want to mellow any more...

    Myth Busters – Relative Humidity

RH is the amount of water vapor present in relation to how much the air could hold at it’s given temperature, but because the amount of water vapor the air can hold changes with temperature (it holds more the warmer it gets) a steady RH over a temperature range represents a rather drastic...

Why 70/70 and what does it mean?

I think I'm going to plan a little Myth busting here. Here is my question. If you take some cigars and get them to 70% RH at say 85 degrees will they swell up, have draw problems and burn issues? I think I'm going to do that to some cigars for the Herf in a couple weeks and see what we get...

Why 70/70 and what does it mean?

I'll do a rewrite and put it up tommorow as I said, taking the time to read what you posted I don't agree with it 100% either. It makes it sound like a cigar will swell if you drop the temperature in a sealed enviorment. I'm not an expert, but that seems to go against the science I know. I was...

Why 70/70 and what does it mean?

Thanks, yea, I wasn't trying to sugest anyone keep their humidors at any crazy range, it was trying to explain the drastic changes that happen when a bunch of cigars drop ten degrees. I also had some flaws in my logic and writting, because the cigars I had at 70/76 were not over humidified for...

Why 70/70 and what does it mean?

Plush, Thanks for the information. Yep, I got some of it wrong. I was not trying to sugest anyone keep a humidor at any crazy settings, I was trying to explain why RH changes so much with temperature changes, but obviously got a concept or two wrong. I'm gonna go back and do some editing and...

Why 70/70 and what does it mean?

Seems like this is a common area of misunderstanding so I thought I'd take a stab at explaining it. So, please critique me and let me know if I'm close to the mark on this one. If so maybe it can be added to the bottom of the cigar primer thread? There is common understanding of why...

Don't buy these, they are flavored. Not Clear Havana either.

Herf Party Bring Your Smokes! I wish to invite all levels of cigar folk, from seasoned snobs to my delightfully unenlightened friends who smoke flavored and infused cigars to come out for a good time. Bring your other half even if they don’t smoke, this is all about the people and the...

    Learning Microsoft Excel

Excel can be used in so many ways, so beyond a basic understanding of navigation and how to find answers in "Help" and through the internet, I'd sugest you know what you want from it. I'm the best in my company if you need a Macro to create something like a beta program, Someone Else is is...

How available are the Padron FR 44's?

Was it a Maddy or Nat? I didn't care for the Nat but the Maddy is much smoother and enjoyable. I put my Nat's down to rest.

    Heartfelt Beads, Frequently Asked Questions

Wait... these things can take time, your cigars are safe, my Vino fluctuated for months before it got rock solid. Every cigar will store and release humidity. it will take time for them all to agree with the beads. Also, if your cigars were not temp controled. Now, you have a major game...

    aged, or not.

I love well aged cigars, and if you start with oily, fuller flavor good smokes and store them well, almost universaly they end up very good although down a notch in strength. I can't say that they end up better, because my old stuff dates from before I started smoking cigars. I've also smoked...

    Cruise questions!

Depends on some things, like time of year, it gets blistering hot down here in the summer. One of my favorite vacations was an Alaska Cruise and one of my least was a Caribian Curise. Most of the places like the Bahama's in the Caribian are just dirty places with lots of Fake Cubans and other...

How available are the Padron FR 44's?

I know more have shipped and more are set to ship. As far as numbers Padron will keep making them until they run out of the tobacco to make them, and then their will be more next year. I don't consider these LE, more like the Opus that you may not find year around, and some years they ship more...
