BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Have to chime in here. I agree with Marc that there is something in Ct wrapper I just don't like. Maybe a bit of bitterness or perhaps a grassiness? I love the look and really want to like it but it seems to always begin to tilt the wrong way.- Gdaddy

Getting binders and wrappers to lie flat

Yeast... I don't know what it would do, so I'd be tempted to stay with what works and not vary. I picked up a can or two of crushed pineapple in pineapple juice and added only a little water. Easy as pie. No muss, no fuss, keep it simple.- Gdaddy

IMHO... it doesn't smell so bad because it's mostly just water with solid chucks of rotten pineapple floating on top. No offense but instead of making a fermented 'mojo' you made weak pineapple water. Think of it this way...chicken soup isn't just a chicken floating in water. It's made using...- Gdaddy

The 'mojo' looks weak. Mine had much more foam and I stopped at 2 weeks. It could be because I used a more rich mixture of crushed pineapple and pineapple juice. More sugar to react to fermentation. A rich mix will also have more citric acid which is what you're looking for. My advice would be...- Gdaddy

I put crushed pineapple chunks and pineapple juice mixed in 25% water and let it sit in a closed jar. It developed white foamy mold on top.. Method 3. Since I don't use a mold, after the cigar is rolled and sits over night, cut the end of the cigar so it's square at a point where it's firm. and then trim the edges with scissors creating a dome shape. Tunnel could also be caused by the binder. There's a lot more binder to cause trouble than there is wrapper. Just a thought to ponder.- Gdaddy

Microwave drying with excellent results
If the cigar is being put in storage then there's no need for the microwave. Let the cigar sit in a low humidity room for six weeks and it's dry and good to go. (It takes about that long for the core moisture to evaporate.) I use the microwave only for quick test of a blend so I don't have to...- Gdaddy

Microwave drying with excellent results
Another quick dry method of putting the cigar with binder only (no wrapper) in a dehydrator. Once dried then put on the wrapper. It was easy to over dry the cigar to the point of being crunchy. The microwave worked faster and all the way to the core with more control.- Gdaddy

I used crushed pineapple with juice from the pineapple for more exposure. A white mold will begin to form as a top layer(don't shake it up). Microwave drying with excellent results
Once the microwave turns the moisture to steam just blow the steam (moisture) out the end of the cigar. If not, it will re-absorb the moisture. You need to eliminate the moisture by blowing it out.- Gdaddy

How to avoid soft spots?
Yes, provided the binder has been rolled properly. Many rollers smoke binder only and don't bother with wrapper.- Gdaddy
