• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Seasoning Humidor

So, the small tube of silicone I picked up for showers/bathrooms is probably not good to use? Even if it completely dries with the lid open?

    Seasoning Humidor

Think you may be on to something with the glass question. Got a little movement on the upper glass. All of the cigars are now in tupperdors. Need to apply the silicone, re-season, and go from there. What a pain!

    Tatuaje Havana VI Nobles Robusto

Big fan of this cigar. Enjoying my 3rd one as I type. Did you happen to smoke your's ROTT? I've found these to be very smooth, and especially with some time in the humidor. If this one was your first, try another after aging a few months or from a different box. These are excellent! (not...

    The best cigar smoking music?

Perhaps it's time for a few volumes of a BOTL soundtrack... I listen to a variety, but some include: ALO, Marley, Grateful Dead, Billy Joel, Sinatra, Buffet, Gypsy Kings, Jack Johnson, Miles Davis, Old Crow Medicine Show, Budos Band, Yonder Mountain String Band, Lotus, Average White Band...

    Seasoning Humidor

Yep. Unfortunately, the hygro is garbage. They run about $50 a pop too. I've been trying to get it replaced for months now, which has proven a challenge now that D.S. is going belly up. The guys at HumidorVault claim that they will track one down for me. Seems to be taking a long time...

    Seasoning Humidor

I have done the paper test, yes. In fact, I also did the flashlight trick (I know, it's got glass) to see any light in the seams, and I did not. I get the "woosh" sound and everything. The humidor is from Don Salvatore (which may be going out of business much to the surprise of many)...

    Cigar Press Mag

Agreed. Just read the last two copies at my B&M. Good article about reading the ash.

    Seasoning Humidor

Another Update: Pulled the bead tubes (all 3) out and saw that they were already no longer 75/25 (wet/dry). I sprayed them all down again, and probably got them to about 80/20. It's been nearly a week, and although the RH got up to 61%, it is now back down to 59%. Why can't I seem to...

    Freezing cigars

Didn't see any specifically related posts, so sorry if this is a repeat of sorts. I see many people recommending that you freeze your cigar purchases before putting them into the humidor to ensure that beetles don't hatch. By following this step, isn't it true that the quality of the...

Down to 59% now (temp is at 65.5 degrees)

    Seasoning Humidor

The bead sticks should be fine. I emptied them and sprayed with distilled water just last week. When they were each in their own sealed container with cigars, they were all reading between 66-67% RH, which means I sprayed them just a tiny bit too much. I would hope that the humidor's RH...

    Seasoning Humidor

UPDATE: Loaded the humidor with cigars and the 3-65% tubes. It's been 36 hours, and my recently calibrated digital hygro is showing 60%. Hoping the beads are able to get me to 65%... Seasoned with distilled water in for ~10 days. Highest I got in that time period was 72%. It sat there...

Anyone else prefer the Havana VI's to the Miami's?

It's possible that the enjoyment of the 7th Reserves was dampened by the fact that #1 had a draw that was ridiculously tight, and #2 wasn't quite as tight, but was still a pain to smoke. The Havana VI's were both constructed perfectly.

Anyone else prefer the Havana VI's to the Miami's?

I've had two of the Tatuaje Miami's (7th Reserve) and two of the Tat Havana VI's, and I enjoy the Havanas (red label) quite a bit more. Anyone agree?
