• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Managing Cigar Social Networks

Good advice. Just be a normal person on Twitter and it will go a lot further than just tweeting shop business. Can't tell you the number of shops I've visited solely because of a conversation with an owner/employee/customer on Twitter/forums.

    New Opus X

My understanding is there is some debate about how much "Fuente" (literally Fuente name) should be on the band. I wasn't the largest fan of the cigar. It wasn't bad by any means, but not something I'd buy over Don Carlos, Hemingway, Añejo, Opus, VSG, etc. Probably would take Magnum R over it.

    New Opus X

We all were surprised Mike. More importantly, all disappointed.

    New Opus X

    There is no Lancero.

    New Opus X

Double MSRP and still not the highest prices amongst retailers in the country. One retailer charging $50.

Also, the 75-100 number is a bit small. Some accounts received a lot more than others.

    New Opus X

From what I've heard the Don Carlos boxes were shipped to a few retailers, definitely not going everywhere and not that much to go around.

letter sent to the fda asking for removal of flavored cigars

Think data comes from here: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/preview/mmwrhtml/mm5933a2.htm

letter sent to the fda asking for removal of flavored cigars

Yes, call cigarillos what they are. Premium cigar folk were not benefitted by the "little cigar" loophole in so many states.

    Humi in Carry-On

I've done this a few times. I haven't had an issue with beads, personally I take them out of the humidor, place them in their own bag so if the TSA does have an issue, it doesn't involve opening the humidor.

    "I can't believe it's not Cuban"

Curivari is by far the closest I have ever come. A couple of older NCs and older CCs have shared some similarities, but I'm not sure that's the same exercise. In order: 1. Curivari (huge gap) 2. Regius 3. El Triunfador 4. EloGio 5. España Every once in a while, a random cigar will remind me...

Freezer Project- Finished w/ more Pics

Active is what I would do. Likely going to invest in one of Staebell's humidifiers for a new project. After months of screwing with beads (both types) trying to get them where I wanted, just gave up and bought an active solution. Def. wish I would have done it sooner.

Uh Oh - Real or Fake?

More common than would one think. Just note, there is a non-Cuban version of Montecristo and the bands, while noticeably different side-by-side, are generally pretty similar, if not a bit more than "similar." Cuban: Non-Cuban: There are quite a few different NC bands floating...

Worst Cigar Of The Year 2011

La Aurora 107 Maduro Draper 124th. Clearly the dual binders are needed and the NUb format has gotten a bit old.

    cigar of the year 2011

Some things that come to mind: NHC Capa Especial J. Fuego Sangre de Toro Original E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2010 No. 4 Cain Daytona Lancero Best Packaging: Namakubi (this wins fairly easily) Zombie (bit problematic for the humidor) Black Petite Lancero (Regular Release) Casa de Tobaco Biggest...

    Home stereo headphone question

Depending on what you are using headphone-wise a splitter could work. If you are using IEMs or something low powered like that you should be fine, if you are using something that would normally need to be amped, you are going to notice the power problems a lot more obviously. I would also try...
