• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    dull cutter and punch?

No matter what kind of cutter you use, the cutting edges will stop working as efficiently as chemicals from the cigar build up. Just wipe the cutting edges down periodically with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. You will be amazed at the difference.

    White Humidor

Thanks, guys. Refinishing one isn't really an option for me. I'm gonna check out the Montecristo and keep looking...

    White Humidor

That would be a possibility, but they're a bit pricey at $500 or so. I was trying to keep it in the $200-300 range.

    White Humidor

That's the key. This whole thing started last week when my wife and I were sitting in the living room, and she said, "You know, that wall unit would look a lot better if you had a white humidor in there instead of the wood one." A word to the wise is sufficient. Hence my quest.

    White Humidor

Thanks for the suggestion, but no. I had thought about it, but it's too small, and the logo isn't something I particular want to display.

    White Humidor

Hi gang. I'm looking for a white, glossy lacquer desktop humidor, preferably about 100-stick capacity, but size doesn't matter (at least in this case :bouncetau). The only one I have been able to find is an Ashton, which lists for (gasp) $1800. Even at deep discount, it would still cost me close...

    Oliva Serie V maduros

I had one from a local b&m at MSRP over T-giving week-end. Thought it was decent, but not much more than that, and not as good as a lot of other, less expensive smokes. JMO, YMMV. In direct answer to your question, I don't know of any retailers selling them on line, although they may be. I...

    humidity tube

Smoke one of the sticks and see if it smokes wet (hard to draw, and/or pronounced cone-shaped ruby, and/or inadequate amount of smoke, and/or tastes sour). If it tastes OK, don't worry about it.

A new smoke to the rotation

I like all of the Edges a lot, although none of the current ones can compare to the original release. I generally prefer the maduro to the corojo, although lately I like the Sumatra (carried by Holt's and a few other dealers) the best.

I Cut Down To Smoking Cigars One Day A Week Now

If, by "fried" you mean your tongue is irritated, let it rest for a couple of days. Then start smoking torpedos using a Dickman (45 degree angle) cut and angle the smoke away from your tongue. You can do the same thing with parejos, but it doesn't work quite as well. Just keep the stream of...

    My new table lighter

So, how's your fire insurance coverage...? :smokingme

Do you have a vitola/size that you naturally gravitate to?

Everything else being equal, I will usually reach for a torpedo/belicoso. I really like big cigars, like double coronas and presidents, but over the past year I have been smoking figurados. I think the main reason is that I can clip the head at a 45 degree angle (Dickman cut), which makes for...

I'm curious to see what the street price will be. Mark, are you out there? :halfgrinw

Is the house cigar at your local B&M any good?

Like Lac Man, I'm lucky: my local b&m is Holt's. They have a gazillion house brands, and most of them are excellent, frequently made by Don Pepin.

Recommendations for a soft flame lighter?

I'd be surprised if you have any problems with it. Xikar usually makes excellent stuff, and as you mentioned, their customer service is top notch. The only problems I have had with my Xikar Executive is that the fuel supply is too small, and the finish is very delicate.
