• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Is it just me, or…

I'm hanging onto a couple of boxes of Genghis Khan Churchills for either smoking when I'm 60 or selling if there is an aftermarket. The couple I have smoked (although it's been years) struck me as very spicy and full-boded. Can't beat the box (or, rather, chest) for coolness.

    How often do you smoke?

I'm largely a weekend smoker, generally having one two in the space of any given weekend. If I'm away on business (or pleasure), I'm likely to search out the local herf lounges and then I'm likely to have one per day while I am on that trip. Winter takes a toll, as I live in the frozen tundra...

    New Geek Girl from Atlanta!

Yay! Another geek! A bunch of us from the Eleven O'Clock Comics Forum are getting together in Vegas in two weeks for MorrisonCon (yeah, yeah, "What's MorrisonCon?" Google is your friend!) for drinking and a spot o' herfing around the edges of the con itself. Yay!

    House blends?

StocktonJohn sent me a La Tribu from Atlantic Cigars in my newbie trade. It was very good-- and when I looked it up online, I found a string of stellar reviews, like, "inexpensive house blends aren't supposed to be good, but this was a real surprise." I recently ordered a bundle of 20 to...

    BOTL.org Newbie Sampler Thread (Archive)

Holy crap, StocktonJohn done newb-schooled me with a postbox nuke of mystery and goodness! What the heck is that one with the machine gun-totin' guys on it? And an unbanded one? What could that be?? A stash like this is what they should've found in Al Capone's vault. Thanks, John!

    Surprisingly good cigars?

Kinky Friedman's Texas Jewboy. With a name like that, my expectations were extremely low. But it was a surprisingly fun & tasty smoke.

Greetings, Brothers (and Sisters?), from Wisconsin!

Thanks for all the welcoming words! Seeing Java and Bandit, I have to mention that I'm gonna be in Kentucky AND Tennessee in a couple of weeks, both for the BourbonFest in Bardstown and then running down to visit a friend in Nashville. Making a point to hit the Bu Da Lounge in Indy on the way...

    Favorite Flavor?

Wait, what Aherzing said! For the flavors you describe, individually or in concert, what are the cigars that provided those to you? I like pepper zing (and I can't remember which cigars provided that-- it was before I started keeping a log-- One of the Rocky Patels was really zingy, and it...

Greetings, Brothers (and Sisters?), from Wisconsin!

Go Pack! The pre-season is indicative of NOTHING! I appreciate the welcome from the Bahamas-- but there's something special about the BOTLs from these northern climes. Smokin' on the deck under the propane heater in a snowstorm takes a special dedication.

    Looking for a cabinet humido

I had all but pulled the trigger on a Tower of Power online at Tampa Humidor (actually, they call it a Pienza, but it looks indistinguishable) when I heard that Cbid used to occasionally have them for sale--and someone allegedly got one for $350 plus $50 shipping. Sounds almost like an urban...

    BOTL.org Newbie Sampler Thread (Archive)

All right-- I've been on the site for all of an hour and am already ready to jump in for my rite of passage into Brotherhood. Let's hope it's more like a Bar Mitzvah and less like a bris. I think I'm stocked well enough to do a nice trade. Let's see what happens!

Ramon Allones Extra LE 2011 Review

I'm bummed. I picked up one of these in Vancouver last year and just sparked it up a few weeks back. The draw was so tight, the cigar was almost unsmokeable. My cheeks were sore from the experience. I'd be afraid to pick up another one...

Greetings, Brothers (and Sisters?), from Wisconsin!

I'm new to BOTL, but not particularly new to the world of cigars. It all started with that counterfeit Habano on a Mexican beach ten years ago (what the hell did I know?!)... I'm a humble civil servant from Madison, WI with a few kids, a few cats, and a wife who is tolerant (at least thus far)...
