BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

$40 got me more than enough Spanish Cedar than I'll need for this project, a nice 8' x 10" x 1" rough cut board, not bad at all! I'm going to mill it down to 1/4" thickness which will then be tack nailed to the interior in 2.5" tongue and groove interlocking strips. The small pile of wood in... -

Desktop repair question.
Make sure you apply it liberally and clamp it over night. You can find the glue at any woodworking store. Call HD, they might or probably do have it. -

Hey now... I was using the proper tools, just not of the quality needed for a project like this. The poor fencing system on the table saw is really what did me in. Couldn't get a 90* cut for it's life. -

Well today's lesson learned is that a portable carpenter's tablesaw with a terrible fence system is not suffiient for this project. Anyone in the DC area have a woodshop I can gain access to? :) -

Bob, Upon closer inspection you're absolutely right, It's a solid board with veneer on both sides. I measured out the inside and it is pretty square. Corners are nice and 90* and I took some measurements of width and height from various points and it's very consistent. I'm glad to hear... -

Question: How much does Spanish cedar expand when humidified and in what direction (wider or taller [with grain]. I need to know if I should cut my lining snug to fit or allow for expansion room, and if so, how much. If I allow for expansion room I think I'll put extra foam stripping... -

Question, is Spanish cedar available in sheets at 3/4" thickness? I need about a 4'x4' board to do this. I called my local woodworking shop and they have 1" thickness at 5 inches x 10 ft long. I suppose I could mill it and cut it down and glue up the panels, but solid panel construction would... -

Thanks Ron! I will certainly let you know when I get there. You can see in the picture the door shuts flush into the cabinet. I'm thinking of using 3/8" (or maybe 3/4") thick Spanish cedar to line the box. That thickness is plenty to slap rubber stripping on the edge and set it back that... -
