• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Sad day in my world

Geez man, I'm sorry to hear about that. You and your family will be kept in my prayers. I can't possibly imagine what you are going through but right now your mom and cousin need you to be strong for them. All I can say is put it in God's hands and keep faith. As for the brotherhood here...

    Is there a "moment"?

Retro-haling!!! Most people make the mistake in that they try to taste flavors when they suck the smoke in. Your tounge only detects 4 flavors....salt, sweet, bitter and sour. 90% of what you taste is from your sense of smell. It's the main reason food tastes bland when you have a cold...

Don't overdo it and make sure you give yourself enough time to heal completely. A lesson I learned the hard way. Hope all continues in a postive direction Ciggy!!!

    Smoking culebras and liking it

I only have one culebra and it's a Davidoff. I've tried another but I forget which one it was. I would love to see / have an Oliva V culebra as well as a Tat culebra but I've never seen them for sale.

Can a cigar be too old?

I've smoked a few old cigars, the oldest being a 1932 Clear Havana (don't remember the manufacturer) which was grassy and pretty flat. I've also smoked a 1960's H. Uppman, a 1945 Don Arco and a 1970's Davidoff...all of which were phenominal. Some cigars age well, some don't.

    Surgery setbacks...Ciggy

Ciggy, I'm sorry to hear of your ordeal. I was away from the board for a while with my own medical issues. As someone who also just went through surgery, I'm glad to hear that you're okay though you still have some stuff to deal with. I wish you the best on your recovery and will keep you in...

    Opus X Prices

Christ, that's some serious gouging. I live in NY and taxes here drive the price up a lot, but those are high even by NY standards!

    I should know, but I don't

Oh, that won't save you. Brothers here have been known to level houses....entire blocks....just to get another BOTL. Some of these guys pack nuclear-sized payloads and once they have you in their sights, well....I'd just make out a will.

    I should know, but I don't

Words to live by unless you enjoy spending lots of time at Lowe's checking out mailboxes and front doors. Not that there's anything wrong with that.... :)

    I should know, but I don't

The Davidoff Puro D'or is a great stick to enjoy on a special occassion. Any of the DE Undercrowns, T9, T52, Dirty Rat, etc. Oliva V is a great go to stick. The Padron Anni's are great as well.

    What's New?

Since I've been absent from the cigar world for several months due to medical conditions, I'm sure I'm missed a lot of releases and cigar news. I'm wondering what's new on the market in the last 9 months or so that I should give a try? I'm sure DE and Tatuaje has been releasing stuff. So...

    Smaller Cigar Favorites (Petit Coronas...)

I actually prefer smaller RG cigars... PC, Corona and Lonsdales. I do like robusto's but not really into cigars larger than 54 RG. Just too hard to smoke.

    Been Absent for a while....

Thanks Jonathan! You'll find that this board has some of the nicest people you'll interact with and there's no drama BS like there are on some other boards. Besides, always nice to talk to a canuck (lived in Saskatchewan for 6 months back in 96).

    Been Absent for a while....

Really wasn't too scary for me because I was unconscious during the critical times. By they time I woke up and was off the sedation, I was out of the critical stage and the danger of dying was gone. It was scary hearing about it though. I felt bad for my family because my wife, my mom and my...

    Been Absent for a while....

I think only a few of them knew....Tim, Paulie, Andy, etc. I can't smoke, but if you ever want to stop by, I'd be honored if we sat on the patio and you smoked a few while I just enjoy the smell. I like having visitors.

    Been Absent for a while....

Thank you guys for the well wishes and prayers. Praying is what got me through my ordeal, especially those from family and friends that were praying for me. It just let me know that God isn't ready for me up there yet and I still have work to do down here. But it definately put things into...

    Been Absent for a while....

Hi again everyone! I know I've been absent from the board. Last time I was absent was due to surgery in October to remove part of my colon due to repeated attacks of diverticulitis. Well, sometime in December and unbenkownst to me, a few of the stitches gave way and for two month, fecal...
