• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Today's Smoke (2004-2022 Archive)

much like eating ribs or crab, there is no dainty or delicate way to smoke a 6x80. good luck with that, dude!

    What's in your bowl today

mine were ALL unsmoked, and completely new. not sure if the pipes are that old, or the briar. never really looked that closely, truth be told. they. have so far had the best smoke for me from new briar. for the price, half tempted to buy six a year, so i can break one in every other month. o)

    Don Carlos help?!

band change started around '11 with the don carlos, then the hemmi, then the chateaus, then the regulars. but i cannot pinpoint it better than that. ALL the fuente lines had a more zazzy gold treatment, but the bit about the black or green base on the bands should still hold true. just don't...

    New Ohioan here

think pokeman: gotta smoke'em all! it is an easy trap to fall in to, and can actually be quite fun too! (obviously) primary concern should be learn what is out there, and learn your own preferences then get a wine fridge for your exploding cigar collection. and also a seperate beer fridge...

    Don Carlos help?!

yup, BUT it doesn't drop below the top shelf; some of his problem seems to lay in telling it apart from the core lines. AND it has the old bands (although the newer ones still look enough like the older ones to be recognizable, just sparklier for the short attention spanned.... what was i...

    New Ohioan here

always. o) BUT, being a newer smoker, you should be buying things in twos to fives, and trying to taste as many different styles as possible. going a box deep early is usually a good way to wind up with ten to fifteen sticks you outgrew. give it a year of tasting as much as possible, then...

    Don Carlos help?!

everything from the hemmi line up has a black boarder on the base of the band (except white on the anejo). IIRC standard core fuente is green. medium brown cameroon-looking wrapper plus black boarder on the base of the band plus NOT a perfecto (hemmi), you're probably looking at a don carlos...

gonna bet you that bitch will still burn like a champ for you! it must be their bunching and binding methods, but i have had some seriously FUBAR liga-family smokes (like dropped and jostled, not DE's fault), that has always burned razor even and steady. undercrown included. good luck with it!

Smoking a cigar isn't just smoking...it's a way to reflect..and remember good times..

condolences, man, but it looks like your grampa left you with something solid; an appreciation for context. it's not WHAT you drink, eat or smoke, it is WHEN, and WITH WHO. i hope you can carry those rememberances forward, and make new and lasting connections in the future, sharing simple...

Your latest pipe/pipe tobacco purchase thread....

IIRC smokingpipes.com is owned by laudisi (sp?), which is the american distributor for savinelli. or something close to that, so they almost always HAVE or CAN GET savinelli. also, they do some of the best pictorial work on their site, so you really get a good feel for what you're buying.

    BOTL Pipe Newbie Sampler Thread

i got chris's side yesterday, and have started digging through the stash, with the realistic expectation together a box out the door monday. yes, chris, you're right, the cellar reserve is a surprisingly tasty bastard. i had also been curious about the torano infinite. and the nica and...
