• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    How full

this right here. cedar is used in boxes (and humis) because it can absorb a lot of moisture without warping. dropping empty boxes in there will help take up volume and assist in stabilization without breaking the bank. full boxes work MUCH better though. just sayin'. o)

    H. Upmann 1844 Reserve Toro Review

actually not a bad blend at all here, and thanks for the review. to me, altadis has been trying to be relevant with some of their newer blends (like the new core h.upp here), and has been having some real luck with it.

    First 2 attempts, fail.

it is like cigars in that personal preference (experience needed), and individual blends (again, experience), will tel, you when to smoke a tobacco. for me, drier is usually good. the "pinch test" is a good method: pinch the tobacco, and if it springs back to shape rather slowly, it's good to...

Show us your latest beverage purchase

hendricks is odd, but beautiful. not a christmas tree bomb of a gin (although the juniper is there), it is cucumber-forward. very wet and fresh and bright. it always tasted summer-y to me, like fresh picked from someone's garden. try it! gotta stop looking in here, but nice pick ups, gents. o)

    Old Pipes

much better! still, could use pics of the bowl itself, and the stem, but from what i see they look in damn decent shape. if you want them to smoke: -salt treat the bowls. -use alcohol and a pile of pipe cleaners (or a wee little brush, look at a local hardware store, unless you have a local...

    Estate Pipe Restorations...............maybe

table salt works, as long as you have uniodized, but as it is much smaller it can be a bear to remove afterwards (which i forgot this past week, to my aggrivation). kosher salt is never iodized, and also digs out better after it has dried, and usually just all around works better. and also...

    Old Pipes

yup! honestly, from that photo, they look dented but smokeable. maybe some tooth dents, some scuffed finishes, but all of them look intact and viable. give us better pix, when you have time, and let us know in as much detail as possible how you would like them to end up. then we should be...

    Estate Pipe Restorations...............maybe

everclear is the 190 proof. any beverage spirit works, but high proof evaporates quicker, and leaes less trace. the salt treatment (seen above), is using salt's absorptive properties, and alchohol's near universal solvency, to clean the interior of a briar. block the draft hole with a...
