2004 Forbidden X Opus X Toro
Start time: 10:55 PM
Drink: Russell's reserve ten years bourbon and water in between to clean up the pallet.
Pre-light: Soft wrapper almost dry to the touch but humidified.
Wrapper to the nose smells of Cedar.
Smelling the foot produces very very faint plum and raisin. Draw is perfect.
Lit with a 2012 Botl Herf cedar spill.
First puffs:
White pepper on back of tongue. Cedar and thru the nose some type of citrus which is phenomenal I can't quite pull out.
First 3rd: Wrapper binder starting to crack half way down. Still getting white pepper. Plum now. (Very light) and also cinnamon. The retrohale is pure cool smoke and flavor. As I continue to smoke the cigar it is just so light and flavorful on the retrohale.
2nd: Body is still on low end (all flavor!) Purge at the ash drop of 2 inches. Still flavors of dried plum in both the smoke and ambient aroma. Further into the 2nd I'm getting some burnt caramel along with cinnamon and plum thru the nose.
3rd: Not much has changed. Body has picked up to lower medium side. Ambient room aroma is in top 10 of cigars I've smoked ever. (I'm blowing some of the smoke away from my exhaust system just to smell the room...) Also still some burnt caramel. And yes the dried plum thru the retrohale is still there. Not much spice but a faint cinnamon still. Cigar is starting to wind down at about 1 inch.
Final thoughts:
This cigar was one of my white whales. I owned two of these. Gifted one back in 2009 and traded one in a Htf pass..... I never had the chance to smoke one. Until now. Thank you Ishee( Smoking Ish) for a wonderful oppurtinity! You truly have become one of my best friends. Even though we live so far away.
The cigar smoked like a dream. It had a few wrapper pops. But I managed.
Even with the wrapper pops it didn't need one relight and only 2 touch ups.
The Forbidden's room aroma may even be in my top 5 cigars.
With notes of cedar, plum, burnt caramel and cinnamon. Who could ask for more!?!?
I honestly think this cigar is still in its prime. Even this many years later.....(although the wrapper is showing its age with such a fragile dry texture)
I tried to drink heavy water in between bourbon sips to not affect flavors.
I could of retrohaled every puff! That light and that flavorful!
Final smoking time: 12:55am (2hrs)
If you have this cigar smoke it now and enjoy the hell out of it!!!!!!!
Thanks for reading gents,
