I've said this before - but this is just a reminder. I'll be breaking BOTL over time in order to get it into a far better place. Just be patient if you can't reach us! We'll be back
I'm thinking about heading to Total Wine on Wednesday before I start my shift at 5. What are a few that I should pick up in the meantime until we can all get together? DFH 90min is Craig's choice, I know that already haha
Also, a lot of brewers are making bottle conditioned ales in the 22 oz. bombers. Basically, bottle conditioned is where the brewer adds some yeast to the bottle of bear. The yeast will continue to eat the sugars present and create alcohol. This is where you want to buy multiple bottles, let them sit in your cellar (in darkness) for some time then try it again.
Some beer ages better than others but it's fun to see how much the beer changes as time goes on.
Yeah, I'm in the same boat as Larry. My local grocery store probably has 200 beer facings. Liquor store I frequent has more than 1,000.
"Craft-brewed" beer has a pretty broad definition, the way most people use it. It can mean anything from Sam Adams, New Belgium, Sierra Nevada, to your local brew pub's 10-gallon batches - but, in any event, it does typically refer just to American-made beers. It also has a more specific definition, but that's outside the scope of your question.
Are you also interested in the import class? Belgian, German, UK(ish) and the like?
Max, I think he is looking for some general suggestions to get started, a few of "your favorite" kind of thing.
And all I can say about a tasting is I hope Casa de Crypto has available floor space because I think most of us will end up on it, especially if L8A shows up!

Exactly, Craig. Just looking to get started into this, hoping for a few solid recommendations for a novice palette to get me started down what I'm sure will be yet another slippery slope...

Dan, Craig & Marty maybe we can all get together at the tap house and this will give Dan the widest selection of beers in town! starting the 27th I'm free from working (other than at home)
