Company: 7-20-4 By KA Kendall
Cigar: Hustler
Size: 5.5 x 52
Price: $8-$9
Burn Time: Just under 2 hours

Prelight:

The Hustler is a well constructed cigar with flawless overlap of the Brazilian Mata Fina & Ecuadorian Connecticut wrappers. The cigar has a paper bag like feel to it with a nice firm pack and a chocolate nutty aroma. The cap has a tiny pig tail, really to small to grasp and pull so I used a double blade cutter to open it up.

1st 3rd:

Upon first light the cigar exhibits flavors of sweet tobacco, milk chocolate, cedar and green tea. While I find the draw very snug the cigar is putting off a ton of foot smoke that is very pleasant with aromas of chocolate covered cherries. Very nice aroma indeed. The strength is a medium at best.

2nd 3rd:

The draw is still very snug, making this a very slow burner but it is still putting out a tremendous amount of foot smoke. There is a strong creaminess coming in now with flavors of coffee, cedar and rose petals with a hit of pepper. The strength has ticked up to a medium- full as we get closer to the band. The stick requires one touch up here, but nothing major considering the two different wrappers.

Final 3rd:

As we head for home the cream remains now accompanied by a nutty flavor to complement the cedar, pepper and chocolate. The draw never really opened up and the strength remained at a medium-full. A full relight is required once I tapped the ash the stick went out. Construction remained perfect with no tearing or flowering that is seen with some lesser quality barber poles.

Summary:
I'm a sucker for the looks of a barber pole and will try anything in that style at lease once. I was surprised by the Hustler because usually barber poles tend to be mild-medium at best with little complexity, but this one had a little kick that you full bodied guys might like. There were some very good flavor shifts enough that you pepper heads might actually enjoy in this stick. I was a little disappointed in the snug draw, which according to several other reviewers appears to be pretty common for this brand. I purchased all 3 sizes of the Hustler and will look forward to trying the remaining two at a later date.

Nice review. I'm interested in seeing your thoughts on the other Hustlers. I've really enjoyed the few 7-20-4 cigars I've smoked. The classic is good, but the 1874 was great. The only Hustler I smoked though I had a lot of problems with - there was such a horrid chemical taste to it I couldn't get more than an inch into it. The tobacco smoked well, but it was almost like the cigar had gone back into fermentation.

Ive smoked a few hustlers with no problems with burn or draw. I like the hustler, especially the dogwalker but i think the classic 7-20-4 line is better. Particularly the lancero, corona and londres

This was my smoke of the day on Sunday. I definitely got most of the flavors you did but on a much more milder scale. Id say mine was more mild-medium by the half way point and got up to medium past that. I never got full blasts of flavor though. Youre totally right about the burn time. Very slow. I love barber pole style cigars also and i was really impressed with the construction on this. I got a razor sharp burn which i wasnt expecting considering the small swirls of wrapper used.

Great Review
