  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial #5 Torpedo, anyone have it? I only had one La Aroma cigar, it was the Marquis I think. I hated it. One of the worst cigars I've ever had. The taste was strong and uncomplex. Burn was okay.

Never heard of the Fonseca Casa Magna.

The litto is one of my favs, but I thought the 2007s were better than the 08s. 07s had a bigger kick in my opinion.

It may be the best for the price, although even that is debatable but if I could afford to smoke any cigar I wanted atleast 99 times out of 100 it would not be a Casa Magna.

^ thanks for that link. That's interesting, and makes more sense. They gave that one the #1 over better cigars for the simple reason that it's easier to find and only $5. In a way, that's kind of cool. In a way, it's annoying.

They should have 2 lists, then. A Best Cigar list and a Best Buys list...oh wait, they do...now I'm really confused, lol.

CA is cash driven, and taste is not.

I like to watch what my family here has to say. Then try that. I have learned more about cigars on this board in my time here then I ever have in years of reading CA. Plus how many CA readers like us can buy a $7000 matching breifcase and cuff link set?

It is fun to read, but it is fun to read like a Stephen King novel, not as news/facts like The Wall Street Journal. IMOP of course and sorry for the rant...

Ok, I just got my order of Casa Magnas in (I ordered some to try, since I knew there would be some problems finding them after the list was made public)...I thought I would post my thoughts since there is plenty of opinions about the #1 spot on the list...

I smoked two Robustos over two consecutive nights...

Short Bottom line: a nice, clean smoking, well constructed cigar that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Long Bottom line:
(these are random notes I wrote down while smoking)

This thing SMELLS like a cigar...there are some cigars that smell almost like nothing at all, this is not one of them...
Nice wrapper, no blemishes, not very toothy, but not overly smooth...
Feels great, very firm, kinda dense...
I had to beg for a box to put mine in (the guy who sold them said that the distributor does not send them boxes every time, only refresh bundles) but I finally got one, an it is a great looking box, very high end looking...
I torched the end, and it started up very easily, not alot of smoke at the start...Very woodsy taste in the beginning...
1st 1/3rd is nice, a very clean taste...does not stay in your mouth long...burn is great, very even...
2nd 1/3rd is about the same, great taste, but fairly mild...not much pepper at all, nothing that screams strong... Burn is still great, have not had to touch it up...
Last 1/3rd...Taste has not changed much, still a nice earthy...A very interesting taste that I have not really tasted before, hard to put my finger on it...Burn is straight as an arrow...
I took the label off, and it came off nicely, and it is a NICE feeling label, very solid feeling..they did not skimp on that...

Honestly, it is a fairly straight forward smoke, VERY enjoyable, but mild to medium and one dimensional for sure...I will be buying more.

The Bottom-Bottom line? Is it the best cigar in the world? Um, no. But it IS a great tasting cigar that only costs $4, prob one of the best for that price I have smoked...

Hope it helps, and ask any questions you have!
