Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
He (and his wife and 4 sons) were all alcoholics. He died of liver cancer which was found after he received a liver transplant.I shake my head when the baseball people say that roids were not a banned substance at a certain date in time. The only date that really matters is when US laws declared that steroids were illegal.
I was a huge Yankee fan as a kid. As time wears on, I really have lost interest in all sports.
I will take the good old days of Mantle.
That is a different law.You can, and every day people do get arrested for public intoxication.
It is not against the law to drink. It is against the law to be drunk in public. That is a different law.
If you drink enough cold medicine you could be concidered under the influence, does that make drinking cold medicine illegal.Correct but when it come to illegal drugs you can be arrested for being under the influence of them, that would make doing them illegal as well.
alcohol is not a performance enhancing illegal drugHe (and his wife and 4 sons) were all alcoholics. He died of liver cancer which was found after he received a liver transplant.
That would fall under, under the infuence. I noticed that you lumped everything togather. In other words you can not find a law that states it is illegal to do Pot, LSD, Crack, ect. You can only find an umbrella law that covers being under the influence. If I took to much of my pain meds would I fall under your Public Intoxification? YES. But I have a script that says I can take them legally, why is that.PUBLIC INTOXICATION....if you are high on crack, pot, lsd, whatever, you can be arrested for PUBLIC INTOXICATION.
You are missing this.9.28.040 Persons under the influence of liquor or drugs in public prohibited.
It is unlawful for any person under the influence of intoxicating liquor, or any drug, or the combined influence of intoxicating liquor and any drug, to wilfully appear, remain or be in or on any private premises or in any private house to the annoyance of any other person. [Ord. 865 § 1, 1984.]
I think you just proved my point again.9.28.040 Persons under the influence of liquor or drugs in public prohibited.
It is unlawful for any person under the influence of intoxicating liquor, or any drug, or the combined influence of intoxicating liquor and any drug, to wilfully appear, remain or be in or on any private premises or in any private house to to the annoyance of any other person. [Ord. 865 § 1, 1984.]
Could not agree more, but this has been going on since the begining of sports in this country. The only thing that has changed is that the media is everywhere now, and these guys get shown for what they really are. Just keep in mond they are no different than you and me. They just make more money. They have the same problems and addictions (well maybe some have a few more).this turned into a law school thread. lets get back to talking about the current group of money hungry, law breaking scumbags that call themselves athletes.
the real problem is that they are sometimes called sports heroes. in the good old days, people looked up to athletes. These days, they should be considered in the same class as most politicians
they'll be remembered as the players of the * era. The modern day Black SoxArod, McGuire, Bonds...in a few years, nobody will remember them
