  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

a sad sad day

Without being to melodramatic, after a busy night at work tonight I decided I was awake enough to sit on the deck and have a smoke. I poured myself a snifter of grand ma (thats grand marnier for you non-alcoholic types), brought my laptop out, and then went back to my wine-ador. I see all kinds of sticks I've stocked that I'm anxious to try, opus, davidoff's, Tat SW, a Gurka, among others. I decided not to be too extravagant and go for my all-time go to smoke; the RyJ Habana Reserve robo. For the first time in the history of me having one of these sticks, I am unimpressed.

I've always found these to have great construction, very even burns, nice draw etc....but all the sudden the flavor profile doesn't fit me anymore. I mean, right now I'm looking at it about to enter its 2nd act, razor tight burn line, smooth white ash, but damn it...its just not me anymore.

I guess I'm just another slut spoiled by DPGs and LFDs. Such is life.

Ah it happens bro, Just hold on to them and let them age. It will come back around. Actually the same cigar can be good one day and not the next. Also it might have some to do with your tastes have changed. It happens!!

It's such a bummer when you're really kind of looking forward to a good smoke and you get such a letdown. Time to back to the humi and pick out another!

Kelly is right just let it rest and come back to it latter. And if you still don't like it bombs away.

while all that may well be, chances are you aren't going to find them to be that enjoyable any more. once you get a taste for the tats, lfd's, etc. you probaby aren't going to be satisfied with something like the r&j. you might at some point want one in the morning, but i'm guessing your palate is maturing. enjoy it!

Tastes change, your mood is off since the last time you tried one, taste buds get burned out, the drink you pair the cigar with overpowers the cigar, etc, etc. Many things contribute itself to enjoying a particular cigar one day and not the next.

Yeah, but I've always enjoyed them no matter the pairing, mood, etc.

I like to agree with Bob, its just my palate maturing (said in a snobby voice)

Bill...this exact same thing happened to me and the Padron thousand series. I feel your "pain" bro:

I'm letting the ones I have now rest, and I'll try 'em again later. Cause you never know what I'll be liking in a few months! Well, ok, I'm pretty sure I'll still like my DPGs, La Riquezas, Tat Havanas, El Triunfadors, Padron Annis, Cabaiguans, blah blah blah...but ya never know!

Had the same thing happen with the RP Edge. Any one of them. Got 2/3 through one one night and was just.... fed up. Curious emotion. Had a few since, and I still feel the same way.

Have you tried that Museum edition yet?

I haven't. I am limited as to what can buy here on the island. I saw a box of them at Cigar Inn last time I was in Manhattan, thought about picking one up but at $30 a stick, instead I loaded on a few extra tats onto my tray. :guitar: Now I'm rockin out with Pete!
