? about paper rings

Do people usually remove the paper ring before smoking the cigar? I usually like to, but sometimes part of the wrapper comes off with it (which really bugs me).

The reason I like to is that I often like to smoke past where the ring is.

you mean the bands, or labels?

Yeah, I remove my labels after I smoke the cigar for a few minutes. That way, if a bit of it was stuck to the wrapper, it usually let go from a bit of heat and humidity.

Stop by the introductions & tell us about yourself. I take the band off when I get about half way done.

I wait until the heat from smoking loosens the glue under the band enough to remove it without ripping the wrapper. Some bands are glued so well that they need to be torn off. If I am outside working, I'll keep the band on as long as possible to keep my fingers away from the wrapper.

It depends, if I'm alone I usually leave it on until it gets in the way. If I'm with others I take it off as soon as it lets me.

I smoke it close to the ring, makes it easier (usually) to get off cleanly.
