Algerian and Corsican Briar

I have done a bit of reading and I found that these two briars are debatably the best briars for pipes. And that the wood is older/denser etc. Can anyone concur that they are superior or was it just a sales pitch? Also, if they are good materials, would mastercraft pipes made with these be any good?

From what I've read and understood, Corsican Briar is the best. It's more dense, older and displays the best grains use for the best pipes. Perhaps, Mr. Perkins can chime in, as he is a great pipe maker and made the 2014 BOTL pipe.
