  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Another Chicago Suburbs Herf.

Rob is going to show up at JFires house wether it's on or not. I'll be standing behind Rob filming the awkward greeting at the front door.
Ha!

I've not heard anything either.

No worries

I figure that, even if the hookup at JFires does not happen this time, I'd head back out to The Cigar Lounge in Schaumburg and see how many brothers can make it. But that is just a backup plan.

I'll send a message to JFire

I'm not so sure I can make the 9th now. I'm helping my in laws with moving. And I'm just finishing up close to 90 hrs of work in 4 days. So if I don't work extra days this week at work my days off are filled with projects/to do lists. BUT I have s solution. Not sure anyone would like it considering it involves two types of gambling, smoking cigars and drinking..... (See below)
I absolutely love the triple crown races. The Preakness is May 17th. I'm off work from the firehouse that weekend. We could do a poker tourney/ horse racing wagering. I have a Twinspires acct now. Guys would just have to let me know there intentions before that day. (10-20- 50 dollars) it takes literally a couple mins to load the money thru moneygram. And then it's bet bet bet the ponies. Basically we would be having a poker tourney at Arlington with out ever having to leave the house. Dollar exactas trifectas Win place show bets. You name it. Someone hits a Superfecta it may take me a couple days to get you the money lol. What do you guys think?
Oh btw Ara Sofc is in town that weekend so BOOM!

No idea about horse racing but I might be able to get away for a smoke or two depending on how work plays out.

Sorry to hear that, JFire, but totally understand! I've done a few 70-hour weeks and they suck. Can't imagine a 90…

I'm going to try to move some stuff around on my calendar for the 17th as I really want to participate. I'll know better by the weekend but it's a great idea!!

Since I already have this Friday on my calendar, does anyone want to hook up at the Cigar Lounge in Schaumburg again? I do want to try the new Burning Leaf in Aurora but that's a helluva drive for anyone from up North and I can't ask folks to do that. CL seems to be pretty much the halfway point.

Otherwise, hope to see the rest of you on the 17th

Sadly I can't make it on the 9th. I have a pretty strict ritual for Hawks games.... and am terrified to deviate from it.
The 17th could work. Would really like to meet more of you local guys... but if things continue the way they should, WCF scheduling may change my availability.

What about a mid-summer herf at Arlington Park? Smoking is permitted outside at the park.

That sounds awesome, too. The great thing with the (slightly) warmer weather on us is that all of these choices are not "either/or" - I'm going to hit Cigar Lounge on Friday and I invite everyone/anyone to join me.

I am hoping to make the 17th as well (thanks JFire!)

I will hit Arlington in the Summer (Good call, Dave!)

How about August 3rd... put our money to a good cause.

"FireZone First Responders Day featuring the Gary Sinise Foundation
Join us for the celebration of local service men and women and help support the 9/11 Remembrance Rescue Project. Honor our nation’s defenders, veterans, and their families with Arlington International and the Gary Sinise Foundation."

I love that idea! I'll toss it on my calendar now to make sure I'm available.

EDIT: I just realized that, in my excitement to meetup with all the brothers again, I've totally jacked this thread. Many apologies to JFire!!

I've posted this Friday on the herf calendar to meet up at the Cigar Lounge and will start a new thread so that JFire can have this one back

Sorry, brother! <sheepish grin> :tiphat:

Looks like the 17th is a go. I may even have guys from work showing up. Basically a full blown poker tourney. (2 tables) and all day horse racing. If someone here can contact all the guys from last Herf and let them know via pm I would really appreciate it. I'll drop more details on times and info in a couple days.
