Heading up for a weekend next month. Looking for some food recommendations. My only must eat place right now is Sean Brock's Husk.

Craftsmen Kitchen Tap House looks good on Yelp. Anyone have any others? How about good B&Ms to check out?

Hey man, my sister lives right outside of Charleston and works at Kiawah Island. Since she's in the hospitality industry, she knows some good spots.
If you want I can hit her up and ask for some restaurant recommendations.

Sure. I'll take a local tip over Yelp anytime. Thanks!

I vacation there at least once a year....
- Red's Ice House is one of my favorite hang outs. It has tons of outside seating and a crows nest bar. It's right on Shem Creek and you can often see dolphins following boats in. Boats dock right up to the restaurant. It's on the other side of the bridge from Charleston in Mt. Pleasant.
- Jestine's Kitchen is great country cooking and soul food.
- Slightly North of Broad is a nice upper class restaurant downtown.
- Husk is a newer place that is fabulous. It's in an old two story house downtown. You will definitely have to wait in line, but it's worth it.
- Hominy Grill is great for brunch

Hope this helps!

Thanks @Catawbamatt - noted. Yeah I made lunch reservations at Husk. They're already slammed til 10pm on the weekend nights a month out.

If you haven't seen it already, PBS did a series called The Mind of a Chef. Highly recommend (on Netflix). Several episodes feature Sean Brock. The stuff he's involved with regarding seed preservation and historic foods is incredible. Anyone who tats their arm with a sleeve of veggies has to be worth a try anyway!

Still waiting for my sister to get back to me. It seems my other sister, one of our cousin's and his girlfriend all went down there this past weekend for some St. Patrick's day festivities. Once she gets back to reality this week I should have some recommendations for you!

Ok, just got a text from her with some spots off the top of her head.
Here you go:

Hank's Seafood Restaurant (http://hanksseafoodrestaurant.com/menu.cfm)
Indaco, Italian Food & Wine (http://indacocharleston.com/)
82 Queen on Queen St. (sorry, website didn't open up here at work).
Those 3 are a bit high end, but great for a nice date night out. You know, if you're feeling that route!

Brown Dog Deli (http://www.browndogdeli.com/). This is a very casual lunch spot, and you can get it to go and eat at the waterfront park.
Blind Tiger Pub (http://www.blindtigercharleston.com/). Middle of the road price range, Irish pub feel, good burgers and stuff like that.
Mellow Mushroom for pizza (http://mellowmushroom.com/store/charleston).
Poogan's Porch (http://www.poogansporch.com/). Best shrimp and grits in Charleston, according to my sis.
These are going to be more affordable than the top 3 listed. Poogan's may still be more than the others, but well worth the trip.

Social Wine Bar (http://www.socialwinebar.com)
Rooftop at Vendue Inn (http://thevendue.com/restaurants/the-rooftop/)
Both of these are good happy hours (remember though, my sister is 27 so her happy hour may differ from ours. unless you're around that age as well.) Either way though, these are supposed to be nice spots.

Aaaaaaaannnnnnndddddd, cigar lounge:
Charlestowne Tobacco and Wine (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g54171-d2558209-Reviews-Charlestowne_Tobacco_and_Wine-Charleston_South_Carolina.html)
No website, so I figured the Trip Advisor link would work just as well.

Those were off the top of her head this afternoon, and she said she will work to get you some more spots to check out. She's also checking in with the more senior concierge's at her hotel (she's only been there a couple years) to see what they suggest.
Hope this helps!
