  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Any Irish Whiskey drinkers?

Over the last few months I have come to really enjoy Irish Whiskey, I drink jameson rare reserve 12 year. Does anyone have recomendations? I'd like to try more quality whiskeys. I'm trying to get into Scotch but I'm having a hard time finding a scotch that isn't really friggin expensive and doesn't taste like jet fuel.

Aye! Love the Jameson 12! Jameson 18 and Gold are quite good, but more hard to get for me as well as a higher price. Try and get Tullamore Dew Blended as well as Connemara Peated Single Malt.

Connemara Peated Single Malt how is that one? I looked at it and I wasn't sure if I would like the peaty taste, a lot of scotches have that heavier peat taste.

I'm a Bushmill's guy, personally. The regular, white label stuff does me fine, although Black Bush and single malt are great, too. For a budget drink Tullamore Dew and Powers are OK, IMO. I prefer it cut with cold water about 1:1, no ice. FWIW.

Of course, if you want to try the high priced spread, Redbreast is spectacular, although hard to find in the U.S.

That one I don't like neat; splash of water or on the rocks works best. It's quite good. Chocolate overtone on grassy notes.

im not a whiskey guy.. my taste buds just cant seem to find a liking to it... yet
I feel the same way about scotch, then I tried Irish Whiskey, after my first glass of blackbush it was all over. Then I tried Jameson and was hooked. I like both Bushmills and Jameson 12 year. Keep trying bro!

Try the Suntory 12yr Japanese single malt it's really good for around $30 bottle
+1 Japenese whisky made the Irish way.

I'm guessing by Scotch you mean single malt (over here it implies blended) I recommend Macallan, Glenmorangie and Lagavulin. I find the scotch/whisky to be Talisker but that is very peaty.. I think you'll enjoy Macalland and Glenmorangie more than Talisker and Lagavulin which are heavy in peat.
