A friend of mine will be in San Diego for a few more days and asked me if there were any good cigar shops in the area.
Any nice cigar shops in San Diego?

Since he is there on business I don't think he'll be able to.
Just returned from first trip to SD a few hours ago. Walked into 5 or 6 different shops the last few days. Only two stick out in my mind that I'd go back to, both in what I think was called the Gaslight district. One on 5th, Cuban Cigar Factory was pretty good. Other was on 4th; (Havana Club maybe?). Both had smoking areas and decent atmosphere. No place I went into knocked me out with large selections.
Prices were pretty steep in all the shops. I thought WA tax was a killer up here, but CA must be hitting a lot harder. I stuck to house brands and sticks I hadn't heard of. Mostly because I couldn't bring myself to pay the steep prices, such as (IIRC) $15 for RP OWR or $24 for an Ashton VSG.
