I have been playing around with FL Studios for about 3-4 years now and just started getting into Reason and some VST plugins to use as well. I have stockpiled a ton of beats, but don't really have an outlet.

Besides that, I have never had a chance to work with someone who I can learn from. I do this as a hobby, usually while I smoke and was hoping to link up with someone who may have similar musical interest.

I typically make rap/hip-hop beats. Just thought I would put this out there as I have kind of come to a point where I feel "stuck".

I've used Audacity for years to record various bands I have been in, and some noise projects I have done.

That's awesome - I'd love to hear your art!

I'm a string player, set up for bass currently & I'm familiar with Pro Tools, but honestly, I'm more of a rockin-rolla.

noise projects? i'd love to hear what you do... and to otaku... i wish i could help but i'm pretty lousy at explaining things unless in person. i do recomend using logic, if you have a mac. and do as much as you can with analog equipment, for me it leaves alot more room to play, and learn.

i have been using reason for about 8 years, on a pc then mac making hip hop instrumentals
the hardest part has been trying to collaborate with people to use the beats or make things together, trying to do all that over the internet or in person with people who have lives and schedules and their own agendas is pretty time consuming

just keep concentrating on making good music, post some of your stuff here, i will listen

We should all just start remixing each others stuff... I've been drumming for 20 years and fiddling with protools and reason for about 4 years. nothing impressive, just fun to tweak around on... i put a lot of it aside to focus on school, and would love an excuse to plink around again.

I'm a reformed Reason/Ableton/Cubase guy myself.

Got really into it when I was playing pro down here in TX before going back to school. Haven't really had the time to mess with it much over the last couple of years, but would definitely be interested to see what you guys are doing.

I was big on Sonic Foundry stuff which is now owned by Sony. Wrote a lot of stuff in Acid and Vegas, just felt like everything was either coming out too techno or too movie soundtrack and got kind of bored with it. Picked up a new M-Audio Axiom 61 midi keyboard at the time and used it once, now it is just sitting in a box. Did a handful of remixes and got bored with that too. Was always more fun for me producing live musicians.

the easiest thing to do when you get stuck is to listen to stuff you don't normally listen to. working with a vocalist helps as well, assuming you're just making beats and don't have vocals on top. basically, get yourself out of your comfort zone and work from there.

what sort of hip-hop are you producing? i'd like to take a listen if that's cool. i work with logic, pt, reason, peak, ni, and gb. here's on oldy i did. actually, i think the beat comes from the record you see in my profile pic. here's another.

Also, I found that integrating different gear would shake this up enough to keep from feeling stagnate - borrowed synths, beat-boxing and cutting that up, etc...
