  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

    Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anyone else notice change in 2014 UF4s?

Not very active here but was wondering if anybody had an explanation or insight into the changes in this year's release of UF4s. Included is a pic, from top to bottom 2013 UF13, 2014 UF4, 2012 UF4.

Is it possible UF13s were misbanded and shipped as UF4s?

Thanks for any insight you can provide

Would not surprise me coming from JD. Probably a uf13 dark. He just banded uf4 to squeeze more sales. So while the uf13 is a decent stick, the uf4 original was very good. Smoke the new uf4 and then a uf13 recent release and let us know

The only way to really know is to smoke them yourself and find out. Anything is possible, we all know wrapper color varies, crops vary from year to year, they might have not been aged as long as previous batches, blends do change sometimes, etc. I would like to give DE the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise, just wouldn't make sense to me to do this for a small release that they do every year, the small bump in sales for one store doesnt seem worth the risk. but who knows

Saw this on another forum. According to casa it is still the uf4 blend, just in a new vitola. I'm still skeptical since it is the exact size as the uf13s.

Drew Estate addressed this on CATS, stating that the blend changes every release… And the gal that rolled the UF4 also rolls the UF13 - why they would take so much more time in presenting the UF4 with this cap is a mystery to me...

However, Drew Estate are masters at getting people to talk about their product

Idk, I have a hard time believing JD and the DE crew would just relabel some UF-13's and sell them as a special release. Not that it couldn't happen, just hard for me to believe. It's definitely interesting to see, I would think people at the event would have noticed and asked him, maybe they'll chime in soon.

I was at the event. I purchased a bundle and never opened it there. I just assumed they were the same as the last few years.

I would be really let down if these were rebanded uf-13. I like the 13, but i love the 4. Time to burn some cigars I guess. Boo-hoo, I now need to smoke an original, a current and a uf-13. Sounds like a good weekend all of a sudden.

Was this before or after the release this year. Why was it never put out there that the blend changes. Not that I am arguing or disagreeing with you personally, just really disappointed I bought an expensive bundle of cigars and did not get what I expected
