  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anyone practice Aikido?

Just wondering. I want to start again once I get a job in Charlotte. I did when I was younger and got up to some belt. Oh and the reason I want to do this isn't to be badass or anything, just want some relaxing activities that are good for meditation.

Yeah a lot of people I speak with say, "Oh Aikido..." or "That's for wussies, you can't even kick or punch." Anyway, last time I was in a dojo I was 12 been a good 9 years. Still remember a few techniques and how to roll but I know I'm rusty and should start from the beginning again.

Wussies?! How about we show 'em a couple of nerve locks/pressure points?! Hahaha. I love the one in the leg. It's my favorite. :stretchgr The look on their faces when they realize their mistake is priceless!

Definitely a cool martial art.

What does it run you guys a month to train?
Used to be about $35.00 a month. I helped build the dojo. Was WAY cool. We used recycled rubber tire chips. It was firm but had some give as well. I haven't been there in a few years. I still do the kata once in awhile tho.

Being in the backyard of Bruce Lee's old stomping ground, I thought about checking out his style. I took my Aikido tests under Sensi Akira Tohei (sp). It was WAY cool! A really nice guy.

Cool mang. Ya I thought about Jeet Kune Do when I was younger but I try to live by the ideal of doing no harm.

I used to train with a friend of mine who is a 5 dan black belt.
he now trains some of out local PD in Self defence and combat training.
It nice too because I am not a very strong guy but its amazing what pressure points and leverage can do to the average person.
Thankfully I have only had to use it one in a fight when I was jumped at the local count fair. It was kinda funny though because the Dumb A$$ thru a punch at my face and fully extended his arm. Well a nice little arm lock and pressure and pushing him to the ground hyperextended his elbow and broke it.
I thought I was in some deep crap because a police officer was behind me.
Well thankfully he saw him attack me and me defending myself.
he quckly handcuffed the dude and told him he was lucky a broken arm was all he got.
I did't press charges I figured a few hours in jail would be enought.

I am a pretty peacefull guy but if I need to I can be a firecracker.

I am really thankfull for a good Sensi and some one to train me the proper way.

I really need to start back in a Dojo and get back in shape.

I trained for 1 year in college, but haven't gotten back into it since I graduated. I actually wouldn't mind finding something like that around here in the near future.
