  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Anyone smoke a pipe daily?

They are replacement stems made for Missouri Meerschaum Cobs that are made of vulcanite. The cheap acrylic stems that come with MM cobs really only last for a few smokes.
AND they make the smoking experience feel less cheap, and actually let you ENJOY smokinh a cob. IMO...

I smoked a couple bowls of 4 Aces Turkish in one today at work. It burned kinda hot and harsh, honestly. Convenient, but not real classy. The bowl stayed lit the whole time though, and no gurgles.

I'm less concerned now about what pipe to smoke, and more concerned with what blends to smoke. I don't want anything too sweet and cloying, but the 4 Aces is way to airy and mild. I just don't know how to ask a tobacconer for what I want in the right language. Recommendations for something with a fuller mouthfeel and a decent nic kick?

Just the 4 Aces Turkish blend. I smoked some Aromatics back when i was like, 18 or 19, but didn't love them. Too syrupy. I'm looking for something tobacco forward, decent complexity, but i see myself smoking 3-5 bowls a day. Mainly I'm trying to avoid super mild, light blends. I want a bit of a punch in the mouth; spice isn't a bad thing, but fruit flavors or heavy flavoring is a no no.

Look at the votes for ptom (pipe tobacco of the month) a lot of good choices options there, dunhill blends are a great choice, early morning pipe, 965, nightcap, navy rolls they usually burn great

If u want tobacco forward try some gawith and Hoggarth burly based blends or ropes, strong and full flavored like dark birds eye or brown bogie, also there flavored blends are light on the casing IMHO

A lot of it comes down to the style you enjoy Virginia's, va/perique, english/latakia, cigar leaf, burly based etc

I'll reserve judgement until I try out these English samples, but they have a very distinct pouch note. Reminds my "new to pipe" nose of very fresh Copenhagen long cut. In short, I'm excited, as I'm no stranger to a lip of Cope from years past. When fresh, it's one of the finest tobaccos one can dip, IMHO. Pictures to follow.
