Brand: Ashton
Model: Heritage Puro Sol
Size: 4.8x49
Shape: Belicoso
Wrapper: Cameroon
Strength: Medium
Origin: Dominican Republic
Received this cigar in a 10 cigar Ashton sampler from my sister for our wedding. Decided to smoke one of them a year, on our anniversary, starting with the smallest (this cigar).
Appearance- Beautiful dark brown wrapper, soft to touch. Barely visible veining. Wrapper had very sweet wood smell.
Pre-light draw- Exactly how the wrapper smelled. A very clean, sweet wood smell. Wrapper even taste slightly sweet and clean. Perfect draw resistance after a small snip.
1st half- Started with a very mild sweet nutty taste. Very pleasant aroma in the air, a face full of smoke is actually inviting. Nearing the halfway point still getting creamy, sweet nutty flavors. Body is creeping its way into a medium range. Very smooth. Burn has been perfect.
2nd half- Body is about medium now. Slightly bolder flavors, with just a hint of spice that doesn't stay long. Still creamy, nutty flavors but slightly less sweet. A hint of nutmeg and coffee arrive to the party a little ways into the second half. Burn is outstanding! Burn time was a little over an hour.
Final thoughts- This cigar was outstanding! It had very refined, enjoyable flavors and construction/burn were exceptional! I feel that the Heritage is sometimes overlooked due to the popularity of some of the other Ashton lines but would say it's right in line with the others. I think MSRP is pretty high for these but they can be had for a decent price every now and again if you find a deal. I will be looking forward to my next one!
