Bathroom Renovation

So I started a bathroom renovation for some folks last week. They bought all the materials back in March and waited til I got home from Afghanistan for me to install it. Here's some pics.

Tearing out the old tub/shower


The pre-fab tile-ready shower base is installed.


Durock backer board installed with waterproofing on the seams.


Base tile is set


Some of the shower wall tile is set.



Some wall and floor tile is set


Shower tile is finished.


I've got about 9 more pieces of tile to install tomorrow and then I can start grouting. The plan is to be setting the new vanity and mirror on Thursday.

Gale what waterproofer did u use? And have you ever heard of hydroban? It's expensive as .... but I wouldn't use anything else again. Nice work. I wanted to use a "drop in" for my basement shower but ended up having a tiler put in a mud pan after I framed it. Looking forward to the finished product!

I used whatever the stuff was the people bought that I'm doing the work for. I believe it's a Maipei product, whatever that is. They went to a local DIY store called Menard's and told the salesperson to give them everything they need to tile their bathroom.

It was super easy to use. Stirred it up and brushed it on. THought about rolling it on the entire walls but elected not to.

Grout gets troweled in tomorrow.

97% Final Product. I've got a couple small details to take care of to give the finished look on a couple things.
