Yes I think I learned a lot just by obsessively googling and taking this forums input over the past few days too. Went and got some nice sticks at Duaso ( thanks for the recommendation!).

Walking back through Las Ramblas in Barcelona I'm walking by the Gimeno shop that I've seen reviewed a bunch online and out of curiosity ask them about Behikes. Lady pulls out some repurposed Vega box with a handwritten "Behike 54 " on it. I ask her where the box is she tells me in Spanish that Behikes only come in singles..... she was corrected later by another lady working there, but nevertgeless. This time... bands look super legit... but have white marks and you can feel glue residue near overlap point. This combined with shitty look of the cigars ( light wrapper, lots of green spots, squarish shape under the cap) made me conclude the wrappers had been removed from legit sticks and placed on these fakes.

It's a shame there is nothing keeping these shops honest, wish there was some mechanism to report of have these guys looked at. 45 euro a cigar is no joke.

Being educated is the best way to keep people honest. I just wish I had the cahonies to say out loud in a shop like that they are fake or the cigars they sell are not handled properly and they should be ashamed trying to pass them off on their customers. I wonder how many people would walked out the shop and the business they would lose? Caveat Emptor

Its a shame that there isn't some type of watch list for disreputable cigar shops, on-line vendors and retailers. Moldy cigars, tap water in the humidifiers, unknowledgeable staff the list goes on. It's one thing to be a bit sloppy in how they do business but to intentionally try and scam you is unforgivable.

Light wrapper, green spots, too much glue, those actually sound legit..

This is the result of good info provided to interested members, paying off for the whole community.
some folks catch a break sometimes.............;)
as far as policing shops.......... how many times do you find employees of tobacco retailers who are even marginally informed about the product?
Outside the US, it seems to be a mix of really informed shops, and dismal clueless shops.

I heard of fuster, didn't get a chance to drop in, busy schedule in Barcelona.

As fate would have it, on my way out of Barcelona I stepped into duty free. . And lo and behold they had boxes of BHK 52. I admired the box from a distance but didn't want to plop down the $400+ for a box. My wife saw it and having earlier in witnessed the drama of the fakes insisted on buying a box for me as s gift so I ended up back in NY with a gorgeous box.

I will hold off on smoking one for a while but i lit up one of the fakes and it was truly terrible. Bad taste, normal draw with minimal smoke production ( don't know how this happens) cut it open less than 5 minutes in as it was not pleasant in the least. Contained mainly long filler with some short leaves. No sawdust or clippings though
