  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Best Cigar you smoked in "08!

Lots of great smokes this year, but the best was a Ramon Alones (double corona sized, but I forgot the actall name). It was handed to me, by OneADay, as my first smoke of day at Jwintosh's herf. He had scribbled some numbers on the band, and I asked if why 93 and 91. The year was 93 and he rated it a 91. Man I rate that smoke a 95 and easily my best smoke of 08.

The 2nd best was a Robert Burns Clear Havana from the early 50s that I smoked the same day. It's not that it was extremely complex, or full of flavor numances. It was buttery smooth, and covered is plume crystals. To the point the shimmered in the light.

Wow so many great smokes this year, can't single out just one, but:

the Forbidden X CIB double robusto 2004 I had for my 40th Birthday is way up there. I smoked some great vintage, too many clear havana's to count, and several very well aged CC. Of those the 1950's Partagas I had one cool quite morning watching the sun come up is top of the charts. The Frank I had on Halloween night with a good friend while watching the kids come and go was also steller. All were great cigars, but on each of these, something in the moment made these cigars more than a cigar.

Hmm, it's tied for me.

I had a Padron 40th earlier this year for the first time, and it was amazing. I also had a Partagas Corona from 04 (I believe) that was simply sublime. They were very different, but both very excellent.

now that you mention it, while the frank was probably the best. one of the most memorable was sitting on a deck at the lake with a fire pit going smoking a tatuaje A.......that was fine!

Found a stash of '01 PSD3s, which are my favorite cigar. It was good to have them back in my humidor again! Easily the best smoke(s) of the year.

'08 was a good year for me, cigar-wise. I "discovered" Tats, Pepins and Illusiones. I also broke the cherry on a number of gars I had been aging in my coolerdor for over a year (amazing discipline on my part, lol) including a box of Opus Perfecxion X's. Pretty amazing stuff, esp considering none are ISOM's.

It depends with me. As of for pure quality of tobacco, it would be either Litto Gomez Diez Chisel Puro (aged 6 months in my humidor), Padron 1964 Imperial Maduro, or Opus X "A". When it comes to the memories behind them, its either the Padron 1964 Imperial, the Oliva G Bellisico, or LFD Limitado II.
