PITTSBURGH (AP) - Bill Cowher resigned as the Pittsburgh Steelers' coach Friday, stepping aside to spend more time with his family one year after winning the Super Bowl title he had chased since 1992.

Longest tenured head coach with the same team in the league, 15 years I believe. And to think no one thought anyone could replace Chuck Knoll. Jerome "The Bus" Bettis beginning of the season blew this open and guaranteed he would not return after the 2006 season. He will be missed by Steelers nation for sure.
