Today is my birthday. Typically I am not much of a birthday person. We made plans to celebrate with another family at their house and, Tom, thankfully is into beers and cigars.
Given the occasion I put together something memorable. Typically I don’t drink or smoke on a daily basis this caliber of cigars so I am really looking forward to tonight.
Tom’s wife is in charge of dinner and I prepared crème brulee (my favorite) and a chocolate pound cake torte.
Last night after much deliberation I decided on the following beers to celebrate. The Geek Vanilla Shake will be enjoyed with the smooth rich vanilla of crème brulee.

Cigars are meant to be smoked right? So I decided on burning my oldest Opus tonight, probably pared with the Black Note Stout or Albert (I might bring along a 2012 KBS, so who knows). The Opus were sold in 2003 to commemorate Fuentes 10 year anniversary.

BTW, I have completely fallen in love with the Oude Gueuze Tilquin a l"Ancienne. What a great beer. I'm thinking of using it along with the West to do a palate cleanse between some of those motor oil like stouts.
Thanks!
James
