Does anyone have any experience with these packs? Mainly I'm looking for some insight on the build quality and customer support sides of the company. A buddy and I are planning to do some goruck challenges later this year and I need to know if their products will hold up to this.

Thanks

My wife used to work CS for them years ago when they were just starting in Virginia Beach. A lot of their packs are all made in China now instead of North Carolina but their build quality is still good and they should stand behind their stuff.

Their 3 day Assault pack is still my favorite

Depends on what specific gear you are looking at. But, most of it is garbage. At least compared to other makers of similar stuff.

Can't help you there. I don't have the slightest clue on hydration pack manufacturers besides CamelBak.

Hydration only won't work, it has to be a bag. The challenge requires I carry 6 bricks for 15-20 miles. Lol, I don't think the old' duct tape this to that trick will stand up to that.....

http://www.skdtac.com/Tactical-Hydration-Pouches-Molle-s/15308.htm - most made to attach to plate carriers. FYI, SKDTac will also sell BAE Eclipse L4 standalone Ceramic Plates to civilians with the proper paperwork and identification ;-)
I know. I have zero need for anything like that. I'd rather spend my money on ammo and training, than plates which I will never have a need for.

Oh I know. I'm just not up to date on pack makers.

Camelbak is probably the best that I have used. They run a bit spendy, but like with anything, you get what you pay for.

SKD is my goto source for things like that, "ninja certified" $5 flat rate shipping and they are a bunch of great guys (ex soldiers). They had a 25% off everything sale when Osama died, (coupon code "suck it") that's almost unheard of in the tactics gear world.

That's my kind of business

So 30lbs, that shouldn't be a problem with most of these packs. The larger Camelbacks will be able to handle 30lbs with ease. I have had the bottom tear out of a Blackhawk, so I may look elsewhere. When they first started they were awesome, but they have gone downhill. Unless you're going for that tacti-cool look, then head down to your local REI or other higher end hiking/camping store and see what they have. Most of the backpackers backpacks have hydration in them now, and they would be able to both handle 30lbs with their eyes closed, as well as being able to distribute the weight evenly for the challenge. Personally, I would get something designed to comfortably deal with weight, than something the mall ninja's think the SEALs carry.

BH is only marginally less expensive than other options.. but is of considerably lower quality..

If you want top of the line.. look at offerings from Kifaru, SOE, etc...

Camelback makes solid products too....

If you are working on a budget.. you can get a Special Ops brand 3 day assault pack (sold in PX's all over the globe) for $99 that will do everything the BH bag will.. and is just as durable (or perhaps more so)..

http://www.specopsbrand.com/tactical-gear/packs/t-h-e-pack-3-day-assault-pack-3-color-desert-camo.html

the hydration part of the equation is easy.. almost all "tactical" packs have hydration pockets in them these days.. simply buy a bladder that fits the pack and meets whatever your personal needs are (capacity).. and stuff it in..

just my .02 (from someone that has owned and used A LOT of nylon gear over the years)..
