  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Great idea, Tat. I'll be looking for that second time around. I've been wanting to do something to try and improve my palette where it comes to cigars. At this point, about the only thing I can do is tell you whether its mild, medium or full, and whether I like it or not.

Cigar #1 is:
Esencia Petite Corona

This is such a great little cigar as many of you felt the same. It was quite often thought to be a Tatuaje Noella :bouncetau

BrandonJ
Drink: Water
Conditions: 63F 30%rh 5mph SSW

Pre-Light:
Good construction, nice triple cap. Firmly packed, earthy smell, stale cocoa power scent. Nice clip, and firm prelight draw, semi sweet.

Frist 1/3:
Nice toast/light. Good volume of smoke, nice spice on retro, not overwhelming. Burning very well so far medium bodied. Sweet, almost honey like with some vanilla, earthy, clean finish and refreshing.

Middle 1/3:
Cocoa coming on strong, dried fruit, still medium bodied, earth/leather. Burn still razor sharp ash holding strong dark gray, same amount of spice on retro. Leaving a coffee/cocoa finish now.

Final 1/3:
Nice amount of nicotine, 2" ash at first drop impressive! Have been smoking slowly due to size to prevent burning hot, working well, no off tastes developing. Flavor profile same as middle third, good smoke overall.
Overall: 8/10

Estimated cost:
$7.00-$11.00

Guess as to what it is:
I am thinking Tatuaje Noella here not a reserva. Perhaps something with some age due to no green attributes no harshness or ammonia, etc.

The burn wasn't that great, I had to touch it up a couple of times. The draw was great

Overall: 5.33/10
Estimated cost $4.50
Guess it is some kind of Rocky Patel
Not my cup of tea.

Tasted Wednesday 4/22

Pre-light: Beautiful dark color with spicy smell and smooth wrapper. Ate light lunch 3 hrs ago and drinking iced coffee with #1

1/3- nice even burn and smooth draw. Light, mild creamy taste with some wood notes. Med grey ash

2/3- flavor still holds a smooth even taste as 1/3. Relaxing but not too mild taste. Still holds my interest.

Final 1/3- still mild taste with some more wood notes. Good draw and even burn with grey ash.

Overall Rating: 7
Est cost- $6-8

Guess- illusione mk

This stick looked very familiar right away. Beautiful smooth semi dark wrapper with a nice cap only seldom seen. Cut like a charm with the Palio.

First 1/3: Fired right up with the dual torch lighter and gave wonderful plooms of rich smoke. Tastes of leather and a little spice.

Second 1/3: Burn got a little shakey and had to give a little bump to strighten it out. Leather picked up a bit now with hints of cocoa and a little grass. Nice balance taste.

Finishing 1/3: Picked up a little in spice and leather. Tastes of dark chocolate linger but still very balanced.

I really enjoyed this stick and will have to look into some.

Pre light-- This cigar was a nice PC size, with a dark oily wrapper. Maybe not Maduro dark, but a nice dark natural. No big viens and a nice firm feel through out the length. After clipping with my palio, I knew this was going to be a good cigar. A wonderful cedar flavor and a smooth draw.

1/3

I used a big triple torch to light it. I had the end glowing orange before ever drawing on it. Once I did, I got a ton of smoke, still with a woody/cedary taste to it. Also some Cocoa flavors rising to the top at the end of the first 3rd. A little waver in the burn, but a quick touch up and we were good to go.

2/3

The Cocoa has turned to chocolate in a big way. Just a great flavor, but I lost a lot of the smoke volume I was seeing at the beginning. Righat at about the halfway point I looked at the fot and noticed a large void, missing tobacco. I'm not sure I would call it a tunnel, because it's not likt the tobacco burnt down the middle, but more that there was a big spot with no filler. I guess this would explain the lack of smoke.

3/3
I have moved past the void in filler and am now getting all the smoke I need. The cedar flavor has come back strong, but I'm noticing some caramel flavors as well. I burnt this one to the nub, not wanting it to end.

In Summary,

This was a great cigar, I do not think I have smoked this one before, but it certainly reminds me of a Tat Noella, Maybe it's the Noella Maduro Reserve that just came out. I would thing this smoke would retail betwee 8 and 10 dollars. The flavors were right up my alley, the draw was great, and had it not been for the littl construction issue, I would have had nothing to complain about.

Overall Rating: A very strong 8

Great reviews, sounds like something I want to try, as I've been looking for a cigar with some solid cocoa/chocolate flavors.
I'm really liking these reviews on this one. It is going on my "look for list" I'll keep an eye peeled.

Man I must be blind... I missed a ton of stuff...this and the BOX PASS.

Wow.
Maybe you had the smoke from an awesome cigar hiding the screen from you.
Keep an eye open, I believe after this one is done he will be doing another one for 6 sticks I think he said.
