  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

That is the lighter that I bought today at my B&M. Lit it a few times to check it, got home and went to light my cigar and it petered out. It would light then just go out a second later...then ot got to the point that it wouldn't light at all, then ot would light one flame and not two and now wont light at all again.

The ugh at the B&M said it was brand new and full of fuel when I left with it so it shouldn't be a fuel issue, should it?

Any thoughts?

I've used that exact same style lighter for the last year and half. It's a solid product. After bleeding it and refilling as already suggested make sure your flame adjustment screw isn't all the way low or high. I've found that placing it around the 3/4 wide open mark offers the best flame.

I bled it and refilled with the xikar fuel that was recommended to me. It now works, but it does not work overtime. It will take me opening the lid, trying it, closing the lid and opening it again and then it works. Makes no sense to me as aren't they supposed to work every time?

Havent checked the flame adjustment yet.

After you fill it, the lighter needs maybe ten minutes to rest before it will work properly. Something to do with the temperature of butane when it gets moved around.

You can't beat a great B&M, but for those without one nearby, Xikar stands by every item they make.

OK...this is ridiculous. When I got on the truck with the new lighter, THIS ONE wont work either. I can hear the gas coming out when I strike it but its like there is no spark at all. Guess im gonna have to take it back to the store again. Why cant I just get one that WORKS?

Hey Tig,,

Can you check it in the store before you buy it, I think after this one they should at least give you that courtesy.

Bleed it and stick it in the freezer for ½ hour. Then fill it with some good butane, and give it another ½ hour before you try to light it. If that doesn’t work take it back and demand your money back.
